I teach English as a second language, and this is the dictionary that I urge my higher beginning students to get. It's a wonderful practical vocabulary builder. I have seen disappointed reviews from people trying to use these bilingual Oxford Picture Dictionaries to learn a foreign language (i.e., not English), and I don't think the OPD the best dictionary in that circumstance. Everything in the dictionary is geared toward American English and American society, and all the incidental material that Oxford University Press creates for the OPD (and there is a lot of it) is in English.

When used for the purpose for which it was designed -- learning English -- this is a fantastic asset.

This book was meant for Koreans learning English but the Korean words are under the English words so you can use it both ways. You might think a picture dictionary is for kids but this one is for grown-ups and is VERY well laid out by category. There are quite a lot of words illustrated including verbs, prepositions and nouns as well as adjectives.

I ended up selling this cause the vocab that I learned from it is really old...I would use the vocab out of here with some of my Korean friends & they would always correct me saying, "we don't say that". I live about 30 mins from VA so I have a lot of friends to practice with. This book doesn't have some useful expressions but it's just out of date.

Got the item on time, and was in the same condition in which it was described. However I wish I had the option to preview a few pages of this dictionary beforehand.

Our son is learning Korean and is an English speaker so we thought it would be helpful to have a visual aid with words.

I loved the idea of pictures to help learning languages..

However disappointed with the use of many words and chapters....

I feel it should be more "general" and geared for my "useful" korean words.

However, when learning Korean... the options are limited...

This is a much simpler version of Oxford's other language picture dictionaries, but it is very useful.

What I ordered and what I got were not the same. I wanted the first edition of the OPD-I needed 15 copies for our English class. I GOT the second edition....and Amazon sent them one at a time! Not only that- but the shipment was delayed.We do not have home mail boxes here so I had to go to the post office and line up time after time -standing there for twenty minutes at a crack-just to pick them up! I canceled the order half-way through...I got fed up with standing almost my entire lunch hour at the post office! I've ordered from Amazon for years- but this time it REALLY counted and the whole order was really messed up. I won't ever order bulk from Amazon again.

I'm very satisfied with the condition of the book and fast delivery. I would like to recommend this book to others.
