I OPENLY WEPT WHEN I FIRST RECEIVED THESE MAGNIFICENT INDEX CARDS. 15 SQUARE INCHES OF OXFORD RULED, UNTAINTED PERFECTION. WRITING INANE STUFF THAT YOU HAVE TO MEMORIZE FOR SCHOOL ON THESE CARDS IS TANTAMOUNT TO TOUCHING THE FACE OF GOD. THESE CARDS ARE INDIVIDUALLY HAND MILLED FROM THE RAREST SOUTH AMERICAN JUNGLE TREES AND LINED WITH LASER PRECISION DOWN TO 1/1000TH OF A MICROMETER. THEY CURE ALL KNOWN DISEASES AND ONE CARD HAS ENOUGH NUTRITIONAL VALUE TO SUSTAIN A FAMILY OF 4 FOR UP TO A YEAR.

But in all seriousness, these index cards are totally adequate and indistinguishable from any other index card I have ever encountered in my life. I bought them because they were selling a 1000 for $9.49 and I need them to study.

These are slightly thicker than good resume paper. They are NOT made from 90 pound paper, or even 50, I would guess they are about 30 pound, so not close to card stock. You can see any writing easily through the other side. The paper is "furry" and bleeds ink very badly. Companies change paper sources readily -- the quality you get one year might not be the same as the quality the next, so make sure you look for the newest reviews. I got thousand of these a few years ago and the quality was much higher. Now these will sit in my closet for a few years until I throw them out.

I am very disappointed with this order.

I have used exactly the same cards in the past (january 2013) and they were thick and nice to use. This current order (November 2013) was really bad quality. The 'cards' are nothing but ordinary paper. They are very thin.

Please do not order this if you are looking for proper hard flash cards - this is the thickness of ordinary paper.

These are flimsy cards barely thicker than standard paper. Levenger makes some great thick cars but they are very expensive. I think I would have had better luck getting lower cost better quality cards than these at the local drug store. American paper companies need to understand that people are noticing this kind of product attribute. There isn't much to an index card after all. You make it thin and cheap feeling then you defined the product. I found a great Tops graph paper pad that has thick paper, I wrote a review of it. I will look to see if they make index cards. I never thought I would see the day when I would spend hours searching for reasonably priced quality paper products but somewhere along the line these companies went south.

I am looking for the best index cards available, and in the process tried these out. These are officially called "Oxford Esselte Pendaflex"; in some places they are only called by one or two of these labels, but they are all the same card. They are much more expensive than others, so I had high hopes for them.

PRO: These cards are absolutely fabulous for fountain pens. No feathering, no deep absorption (with subsequent widening) of line of ink into the paper. My work involves exclusively fountain pens, and it is hard to find a card to accommodate them. The surface of the card is not coated, so it works with any type of pen or marker, and I am delighted with this.

CON: The cards are not as thick as I'd hoped. They are not flimsy, just thinner than other index cards. I couldn't find any info about whether or not they yellow with age, so I think they probably do.

I think that these are still pretty good index cards and if you don't mind that they are a tad thin, you will be pleased.

Recommended.

I buy these cards in large quantities for students to use in the classroom. While these are not the thickest index cards available, they are thick enough so pen and pencil does not bleed through. If highlighters or permanent markers are used on the cards then you will have bleed through. All in all these cards are a good value.

These feel pretty thin for index cards. If I wanted them to be this flimsy I would just use scrap paper.

These are the new, cheap and unusable cards that replaced the ones I've been using for 50 years for research notes. They have a rough surface which absorbs ink into a blur. The corners curl frequently and refuse to lie flat. Their only possible use is as a book mark. The description in the listing: Quality engineered Index Cards for superior durability and performance. Quality engineered with precision cuts for uniform size. Durable quality card stock. This is completely false..
