5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent product.
I have used countless products to treat my psoriasis; MG217, prescription creams, soaps, etc... Of them all, my favorite, and, honestly, the only truly effective one has been Oxipor. It's a liquid that you can apply with a cotton swab, which dries quickly. It does leave a slight coloration and smell until you wash it off, but applied before bed it is only minimally...

1.0 out of 5 stars Not working for me
After a few weeks of use this has not worked. I only have some small patches of psoriasis on my elbows. It has turned the patches an icky grey color but they remain unchanged. I'm sad and disappointed. I would really like to wear short sleeves again. :(

I have used countless products to treat my psoriasis; MG217, prescription creams, soaps, etc... Of them all, my favorite, and, honestly, the only truly effective one has been Oxipor. It's a liquid that you can apply with a cotton swab, which dries quickly. It does leave a slight coloration and smell until you wash it off, but applied before bed it is only minimally inconvenient. Sadly, psoriasis means having to rotate treatments to prevent building up a tolerance to one, so you can't use it 100% of the time. But for all the time I have used it, it has never disappointed me. You have to apply it consistently, and be just a little patient for it to kick in. I am 21, and have had psoriasis for as long as I can remember, I found this product in High School, and it was truly a blessing. The scales long ago disappeared from my elbows and knees, and its last hold out is one spot on my left big toe, whose existence I attribute wholly to my carelessness. Best of luck to all!

5.0 out of 5 stars effective coal tar product, April 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Oxipor VHC Psoriasis Lotion, Coal Tar Solution, 4-Ounce Bottle (Health and Beauty)
In my experience with psoriasis, good coal tar products have completely cleared my problem areas. Recently, I cleared a bad flare-up that persisted against treatment with Dovenex cream and even a clobetasol spray that previously worked. Neutrogena coal tar shampoo has kept away scalp problems for more than 10 years, so I decided to use it as a body soap, then apply the Oxipor product after drying off. Within a week, the newer plaques disappeared completely. Within two weeks, the old, thick plaques cleared entirely, and were left only darkly discolored. Coal tar products are very effective for me, but my doctor prefers to prescribe the newer pharmaceuticals, regardless of their actual benefit. Everyone reacts differently to different medicines, but if you try a coal tar product, I highly recommend this one. Also read the National Psoriasis Foundation on coal tar treatments.

I have used Oxipor for many years. When I have a flare up I use it straight to get my skin under control, then when I have it under control I mix it with baby oil and use it everyday after my shower. Becareful it will make you very sun sensitive.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is excellent stuff!, June 9, 2009
This review is from: Oxipor VHC Psoriasis Lotion, Coal Tar Solution, 4-Ounce Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I have used Oxipor for years. It is the best medication I have found for my psoriasis. I have had it so bad at one time, that I went to a doctor that specialized in psoriasis. He was not just a dermatologist. He said I was beyond normal medications, and wanted to put me on a cancer medication that had to be signed for and approved by the insurance company. I'm a nurse and know a little too much and was not willing to go that far, because of the side affects involved. So I used Oxipor, and put it on daily (when it's bad), and go to the tanning bed (periodically), and tan for only 10 min. Oxipor is sun sensitive, so it burns off the scaly areas, but not in a bad way. Eventually, your skin gets used to it. You may have to start with 5 min at first. I do this every so often to keep the scales gone, and it works. It's the only medication that works for me. No other prescription Rx works better than this, and believe me, I've tried them! Most of the time, I'm scale free, unless I slack off.

I'm a 16 years old teenager who is having psoriasis for 2 years. It can be the result of stresses when i tried to get medal in International Physic Contest. I was very worried about my psoriasis and asked my doctor for treatments but it became worse. But, after some searching and reviewing on Internet, i found Oxipor VHC. GREAT PRODUCT! I only used it for 2 weeks and my psoriasis almost disappear, wow. But, when you use this product, you need:
- Drink lots of water (Very important to psoriasis)
- Eat more vegetables
- Reduce eating Beef
- Stop using vitamin and calcium tablets (I think so because when i use them, the psoriasis became worse)
- Don't use too much Oxipor VHC at 1 time (Sun burns,....)
- If you have psoriasis on hair (head), you Really need a Condition Shampoo (for very dry hair)

Hope my review helped you for deciding to buy this product :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Effective Treatment for Scalp Psoriasis, October 31, 2009
I am a long term sufferer of scalp psoriasis and have found Oxipor to be a very effective treatment. I use a cotton swab or ball to apply it, sleep with it in overnight and shampoo the next morning with a medicated shampoo such as Tegrin. Nothing cures it but this will give you a clean and clear scalp. No, it doesn't smell like roses but it's not that bad. A good product.

I've tried to find a similar product in many Rx stores in my area; there's nothing on the shelves but weak diluted creams. Of 3 MDs treating my psoriasis, none recommended a product nearly this effective. For me, a bottle lasts over six months. That's a cheap remedy to embarrassing blotches.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes - cured me, October 26, 2011

I had scales on my left hand and eyelid and eyebrow and scalp.
Looked a but like raw hamburger.

2 years and 3 dermatologists later, I was the poster child for steroid drugs - which reduce the imflammation reaction.
Oh - but you have to not overdo them because of side effects.

Consumer Reports magazine had an article on what worked - Coal tar products, saying Coal Tar contains some 30,000+ chemicals.
Oxipor had the highest % coal tar of the products lists, which included Tegrin shampoo. Just short of tar and feathering?

This went on with a slight sting in the cracked skin and left a iodine like stain.
It made that skin VERY sun sensitive - like an instant sun burn.

Ok - fine.
Two weeks later - I was clear, and have stayed that way for 25 years.

Yes, I've changed lifestyle - diet, exercise, stress, but this just worked.
I'll never forget my frustration as the Dr. regaled me on the interior lighting features of his wife's new car! and
the massive releif at being rid of this embarassing painful affliction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, June 30, 2011

This review is from: Oxipor VHC Psoriasis Lotion, Coal Tar Solution, 4-Ounce Bottle (Health and Beauty)
I have tried a wide variety of topical treatments for my psoriasis: Olux, Dovonex, Protopic, etc. None of the prescriptions really got rid of the psoriasis, and they cost a lot of money. I stopped using them last year (2010) and naturally my psoriasis got worse over the winter. I found Oxipor on Amazon and read all of the positive reviews, which sounded too good to be true, but I figured it was worth a try. Sure enough, after consistent treatment over a couple of months the scales were practically gone.

This stuff really works for me, and it is affordable! I've had psoriasis for almost eight years, and during that time I have never been as clear as I am today. It might not be the perfect solution for everyone, but based on all the positive reviews I would say there is a good chance it will work for the majority of people.
