5.0 out of 5 stars Better Fly Swatter
Yes, there is a better fly swatter, and the Oxo is it. I know this sounds incredible -- and I can't explain it myself -- but this swatter is more effective than any other I've ever used. If I could hit a fly maybe three times out of ten tries with an ordinary fly swatter, the Oxo lets me hit flies maybe nine times out of ten tries. I don't know if it's the round shaft...

1.0 out of 5 stars nice design, ineffective
This flyswatter, although a very nice design, was lacking in the quality of materials used to fulfill that design. It began to disintegrate upon the first hard swat to the kitchen counter, and little bits flew of the swatter part with each "smack" until now there is barely half of it left. I recommend you buy the old fashioned, cheap, wire mesh one.

If I could hit a fly maybe three times out of ten tries with an ordinary fly swatter, the Oxo lets me hit flies maybe nine times out of ten tries. I don't know if it's the round shaft or the head shape or some sort of aerodynamic property that makes the Oxo so effective. All I know is -- the Oxo always gets its fly, and it looks cool to boot. HIGHLY recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good at killing flies, June 14, 2007

The long handle really gives you the speed that you need to kill flies/moths/whatever.
If it has one flaw, it's that it tends to break if you swing it too hard.

Superbly engineered. I thought a 'fly swatter' was a 'fly swatter' until I pulled this thing out of the box and immediately killed a fly with it, in mid-air on the first swing.

The balance, rigidity and leverage makes it MUCH more accurate and powerful than any other fly swatter I've ever used. It really delivers 'one shot, one kill' accuracy.

I feel a little silly, making such a big deal out of a relatively insignificant household item but whenever a product works THIS much better than it's competitors', I think it deserves recognition. I highly recommend this product, with enthusiasm. Good hunting!

I bought 4 of these back in May '08 and all of them are dead..They look and feel like they are good quality but when put to use, they crack and eventually break apart rendering them worthless. Oxo usually makes fine products. I own a handful of them. This item would be best left alone. Perhaps I had a bad lot..4 out of 4 dead in a few months..Still looking for a "durable" quality fly swatter...

We kill a lot of flies here being surrounded by cows. This is a good design made of cheap material. We have had three Oxo swatters. All three have failed starting at the edges of the fly outline molded in the impact area. The plastic hardens and fails, breaking into little pieces. Too bad. Well worth a third of the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best flyswat yet!, September 16, 2007

This is the best fly swat ever. It is well balanced, sturdy and really packs a wallop. Energy release so good that I can hit a fly in the air; try that with flimsy wire swats and they will bend. This swat is like a tennis racket.

It doesn't get any better than this. I have tried the less expensive fly swatters and Oxo beats them all. It's worth the extra money to get the best. Oxo's fly swatter is strong while still flexible and of course the handle feels great in your hand, which Oxo is known for. I am a big fan of Oxo's products, right down to their fly swatter.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Real Disappointment, September 12, 2010

I own quite a few Oxo products and endorse all of them EXCEPT this Good Grips Fly Swatter. The very first time I used it, I swung the swatter at a passing fly. The business end of the swatter snapped off at the "whimsical" little fly-shaped hole, leaving me with only half of the swatter. I swung at the fly again and this time the rest of the swatter simply disintegrated into dozens of little plastic shards. Cleaning that mess up was quite a chore since the pieces went everywhere. Meanwhile the fly sat on the window sill being greatly entertained by my antics (and language) in sweeping up the former swatter. Now I have a rather expensive and solid handle that surely is good for something if I could only figure out what. It does make a good landing spot for the flies that now have no worries.
