Only the name is left,

GlaxoSmithKline (who merged with the originator of the product) sold the Oxy branding to Mentholatum at the end of 2005, but it appears not the formulations themselves. I guess Mentholatum thought no one would notice if they just tried to pawn off some useless junk under that same name. The new-old-stock Oxy took about a year or two to get replaced on the shelves with this. After complaining to the company, all I got was a form letter and worthless coupons for more Mentholatum junk. The company was quiet about the facts, but some minor investigative work produced an explaination.

Awful product, first item ever that I have had to return to Amazon!,
By zzzzzzzz "Long time Oxy user...." (Portland, OR) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Oxy Spot Treatment, Light Tint, 0.65-Ounce (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
I've been using the normal Oxy Tint for over 14 years, and it helps control the occasional acne problems, as well as serve as a great cover up. I'm a guy, so the less conspicuous the better. All I use is Olay face lotion and Oxy; couldn't be simpler right? Well, I had been using this last bottle for over 2 years, and when it came down to purchase another, to my surprise, there was a "new formula", that reviewers simply hated."What?" I thought, "It can't be that bad." So I ordered it to try it out. Got the product after some normally fast shipping from Amazon.com, and proceeded to run up the bathroom to dab some on like I usually have in the last 14 years. What are the results? Cons 1) Light color doesn't match at all. It was too obvious and looked hideous. 2) Slimy, slick texture going on. Didn't stick to anything. The only way I can describe it is it feels like sour cream. Imagine putting sour cream on your face. That's exactly how this Oxy Light Tinted is. Simply awful. 3) Packaging. All I can say is in this tube you will never get the last drop. Product simply wasted. Great job Oxy, unless of course that was your intent. Pros 1) Nothing from the MFG. However, as this was the first item I've ever returned to Amazon, I was pleasantly surprised how well the refund went. Great job Amazon. Again why I purchase so many things from you. So that's my review. And actually my first ever review as well. The new formula for Oxy Light Tinted is so awful, it compelled me to actually write this review and forewarn others. In my opinion, Amazon should take it off their website as it is such a sub-standard, inferior product. Oh, there was a benefit that came out of this. In my quest to find something comparable, I found Clearasil Tinted Cream here locally. This product is awesome! Even better then the old Oxy! And it comes w/ so much! Thanks Oxy for showing me that there are way better products out there then yours!

OXY spot treatment,
By
This review is from: Oxy Spot Treatment, Light Tint, 0.65-Ounce (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
Oxy spot treatment seems to have replaced OXY 10 tinted. The new OXY spot treatment does help hide the blemishes although not as well as the original Oxy 10 tinted. The tube is not as good as the bottle and leaves product that is un reachable in the tube. My biggest dissapointment with this product is the strong smell of the product. It actually stinks and the smell sticks with you. I never noticed that with oxy 10. The other option clearasil tint has a strong perfume smell.

The only product that got rid of my ACNE! comments on The Good, The Bad, and The Better,
This review is from: Oxy Spot Treatment, Light Tint, 0.65-Ounce (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
The Good Things:I had acne for several years and during that time, I tried every single product imaginable, both over-the-counter and prescription. When it was time to try Oxy, I was so used to products not working that I actually didn't notice at first that it removed my acne entirely! Now, 5 years later, I still use Oxy and it still keeps my face clear. It strikes me as strange that Oxy would work in particular, since there is nothing special about Benzoyl Peroxide in an acne treatment, but perhaps it's the amount. The Bad Things: My only real complaint about Oxy is that it leaves my nose red sometimes. I don't sun burn (ever), so I don't know if it's a case of Oxy making me more sensitive to the sun or me just reacting to it. That's primarily why I gave it 4 stars. Also, even though the tinted oxy is supposedly good for "covering up," I have NEVER found this useful because the rest of your face is not just one, flat tone, so the Oxy is blaringly obvious. I only wear it at night. ALSO- BEWARE the unforgivable damage it can do to your clothes, pillow cases, etc! I HIGHLY recommend using a shirt and pillowcase you don't mind messing up when wearing Oxy. Oxy seems to bleach material it comes in contact with and the damage is irreparable. But Even Better Than Oxy: I know this is irrelevant, but I have to add that the greatest successes I've seen when it comes to acne have been with people who went to naturalist doctors, and I've recently started using natural treatments to maintain my clear face as well. I really wish I would have thought of that years ago, instead of trying product after product. I know there is skepticism surrounding natural medicine, but in certain areas it is the medicine that prevails; and it seems acne is one of them. But until you seize that option- try Oxy! Sorry for the lengthy review!

I am a senior citizen, who used the former Oxy 10 in the round plastic bottle for years and years. This "new" Oxy Spot Treatment is terrible, and it doesn't always stay on the blemish, when putting it on. It is a pasty, gummy semi-liquid. I have tried to blend it in so it doesn't look blotchy, but it still shows. The color is aweful. The Oxy tube is stiff, not pliable like a toothpaste tube, and when I try to get a little bit of the Oxy out of the tube, too much comes out and is wasted. Please bring back the "old" Oxy 10 I used for so many years!! I will not purchase this "new" Oxy product again, and I will be looking for another product to use.

This is another example of a company who decided they were giving too much value in their present product so they revised it under the guise of offering a new and better product and thought nobody would notice that this product is junk.It smells, it clumps or it gets runny, or both. It doesn't become invisible on the skin as the original product did. You can't even get it to stay precisely on the specific blemish where you want it. It seems to want to stick everywhere but where I'm trying to put it. The old stuff was fantastic. This tube is designed to crack and break after a period of use to insure that the rest of the contents is no good so then you have to buy more. The tube design is made so that they can reduce the amount of liquid inside and make it look like you are getting a lot more. It is intentional to deceive the buyer. There isn't one good thing I can say about this revised product. It is garbage and there isn't a chance I will buy any more.

Tinted Spot Treatment,
This review is from: Oxy Spot Treatment, Light Tint, 0.65-Ounce (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
I agree with many others. This product used to be very good. The texture of this product has gone downhill. It does not go on the skin smoothly. The tube it comes in is awful also. I am only half way done with product and the tube has cracked and will have to be discarded.

New and Unimproved! Now with Clumping Action!,

I had been using the previous Oxy Cover acne lotion for over 25 years, so when they stopped making it a few years ago and then later came out with this alternative, I tried it and boy can I say that this is not even close to the original. This new formula not only smells like bleach and has an awful pale tint that doesn't match my skin tone; it also clumps up into tiny little gooey balls when attempting to spread/blend it into my skin. These little clumps are like glue and get stuck in the hairline and eyebrows and you actually have to wash them out thus leaving visible demarcation lines where the Oxy gunk ends at the hairline. Simply an AWFUL product. Bring back the old formula!

the other reviews with one star are right -- the formula changed - it does clump up, it does have a different tint, and yes, it STINKS (bad).that said, it does still dry up those pesky spots and it does a bad, but not completely useless, job of covering up. in lieu of nothing I would buy it -- but, I am trying clearsil for now.

Pretty good product,
This review is from: Oxy Spot Treatment, Light Tint, 0.65-Ounce (Pack of 3) (Health and Beauty)
Overall the product is pretty good. It tends to dry my skin out if I use it more than 4-5 days in a row. It doesn't get rid of acne too well until it has been popped so if you don't pop them this may not be the best product for you. I prefer the oxy bar soap. Can use whenever you want unlike this product because this can leave residue on your face that is visible. The soap prevented acne while the spot treatment just got rid of current acne.
