This review is from: Oxygen Workout Music Volume 5 - 2 CD Set (Audio CD)
This CD is sorta weird. Disc 1 is a actually a pretty well-done mix for aerobics -- for the most part. "Don't Let the Sun Go Down" provides a wonderful motivational feeling, and "I'm Like a Bird" is a really nice mix, too. On the other hand, the vocals on "Something" are plain awful! Also, there are two refrain sections in "Castles in the Sky" where is becomes next to impossible to follow the CD's 32-count format. This is because it's just pure vocals with no background beat. Why the producers didn't include a background beat during these two sections I have no idea -- especially in a fast-paced song like "Castles" where you might want to put together a somewhat intense routine.
This said about Disc 1, Disc 2 is an all-around nightmare. The vocals are bad, and the remixes of the songs are not well done. Disc 1 is OK/salvagable if you somehow deal with the screwy-beat "Castles" or edit it out of the mix, but I found Disc 2 to be very, very lacking. BTW -- You can actually listen to sound clips from this CD if you go to www.musclemixesmusic.com and do a search for one of the songs. I would spend a little more money and get a fitness CD that is more professionally-done, especially if you plan to use the CD in an aerobics class. BPM: Disc 1: 140-154, Disc 2: 140-152. Not original artists.
