5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD of 2003: Pure Joy, September 9, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Oz (Audio CD)
The previous reviewer hits the nail: these three superlative musicians play at the McCoy Tyner trio level.

Forget the truculent beats, simplistic harmonics, and structural incoherence of most cross-cultural efforts. This tight trio sounds as if they've played together for 20 years. They meld sophisticated rhythms and jazz lyricism into a new form, which engages both head and heart.

Their CD is the soundtrack of globalization as conceived by geniuses, and my answer for Christmas presents this year.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jazz Fans Will Love This Album By A First-Rate Trio, August 25, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Oz (Audio CD)
I agree with the general description of the album and write only to underscore that jazz fans will really enjoy this CD. If you like the McCoy Tyner Trio (with Avery Sharpe and Aaron Scott), for example, you will like these musicians very much. Although they have their own unique voices, they certainly play on that high a level. Highly recommended.
