This is modern jazz at its contemporary best. Superb musicianship, excelent compositions, tremendous guitar playing. Get it and grooooove!

My son turned me on to Oz Noy via Drum Nation volume 2 (Magnatude). The song was Steroids. It's on this set. Live. NYC. At the Bitter End. What can I say? Now and then I wish I was able to afford and put up with NYC. Instead, I live light years away in the land of chainsaws and atvs. I doubt anyone else in the county would like this. But you city dwellers will love it. Presumptuous, I suppose, but this ain't the stuff you listen to while you're out eradicating the wild life. The drums and bass are fantastic. My son the drummer points out things to me. I have always loved electric trio/quartet playing and this stuff, while extra, sits right in the brain groove set up by fifty-plus years of listening. The "song stylings" of Oz Noy trend toward the free-form on occasion, but they always go somewhere. Very interesting use of space and/or effects. If he weren't so accomplished, he might not get away with it, but he tears it up. Letterman fans will be happy to hear that Anton Fig and Will Lee work some tracks. Great record.
