This review is from: Ozark Hideaways: Twenty-Seven Day Trips for Hiking and Fishing (Paperback)
I could hardly put this one down. But then again I have been obsessed with cold, clear, flowing springs and mysterious caves from my youth. The author has walked in and along the streams of some of the most beautiful brooks in the Ozarks and scarcely misses an intriguing rock, isolated beach, trout-filled pool, and the ever-present gushing springs. It is a bit dated as far as what areas are public and those that are private, but that can be easily ascertained by taking a hike yourself and heeding the author's advice to keep to the stream bed either wading or kayak/canoeing if you have any doubt you are on private property without the owner's permission. And leave the woods as you found them--little if any environmental impact whether traversing or camping. A delightful read!
