Weight capacity - It can weigh things up to 11 lbs, which is important for me. In case you're wondering why, having a high limit allows you to weigh incredients in bowls, which can be heavy at times.
Simplicity - One thing I've noticed, is that if a scale is more complicated, its just more things that can break. This scale is simple yet it has all the necessary functions such as Tare, and Unit change.
Cleaning - The stainless weighing platform makes cleaning an easy task. Things just wipe right off.
Durability - The materials and construction seem very sturdy and well built. It doesnt seem as fragile as some of my past scales, and a definate plus is the sturdy weighing platform.
consistency - A scale is meant to weigh things, and if a scale can't to do that right, then we're in trouble. But have no worries, this scale is on the dot every time. ( use a nickel, which weighs 5.0 grams exactly )
Overall, its a great deal and its been flawless so far. Oh, and yes I could recommend it to others!
Update: Used it for a few days. Very easy to clean. Love it. Got another one for my mom.
Update 11/29/2011: Over a year now and this scale is still working with the original battery it came with. I grab it from time to time for more than just cooking/baking. A few weeks ago, I had to find out how much my oversized DSLR Canon 1Ds MK3 and telephoto lens weigh so I could get the appropriate tripod head for it. 8lb 6oz. I could safely do so thanks to the oversized weighing platform. I'm changing my rating from 4 to 5 starts since it has been so useful over the past year and easy to clean with no problem at all. Still haven't had a need to weigh anything in grams.
I'll be replacing it with a different scale before too long.
This scale is indeed small and simple. It has only 2 buttons, and the only features are changing measurement units and tare. The tare function is convenient when you need to weigh something in a dish.
The capacity range most definitely does NOT start at 0.1oz, as claimed in the product features. In fact, for anything less than several ounces it produces wildly inaccurate weights. The only way to overcome this is to use a heavy dish and the tare feature, then you can accurately weigh small amounts. But if what you're weighing doesn't need to be in a dish, it just adds several steps to what should be a simple process.
Bottom line, as long as you don't mind measuring small amounts of ingredients in a heavy dish, or you're measuring large amounts at a time, this scale would probably work for you. It did not work for me, as I was expecting to be able to measure small amounts (less than 5oz) without a dish, which should be possible according to the product description, but simply does not work as stated.

I've had this for a while now. But I'm fed up with this scale. It used to work fine. Although it oddly burned through its expensive CR thin battery. Read morePublished 18 days ago by Todd B
