Ozzfest ROCKS! ...That's if you were at the concert.,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ozzfest 2001: Second Millennium (Audio CD)
I bought this used...and I didn't like it. The recording of Marilyn Manson was degrading to his previous works because it sounded horrible. I've even heard Slipknot's New Abortion on the production CD, and the live version isn't all that good. I was expecting more for this CD. Next year, I hope they get better equipment and get better performers (no offense to about half that were good).

The next best thing to being there,
This review is from: Second Millenium (Limited Edition Explicit Cover) (Audio CD)
This CD was extra special as I was at the Alpine Valley venue where they taped some of the songs. Not an ounce of energy was wasted in the taping. Each of the bands come through rocking as if this is a private performance, and it was nice to finally be able to hear Slipknot and not worry about getting hit by a flying plastic beer bottle filled with dirt. If you couldn't be at the concert, buy this CD.

This is an awesome live compilation, perfect to go with Ozzfest 2001 and continue the Hard Rock and Metal tradition. Anyone with a taste for even one of the bands needs to pick it up. The quality is very good, along with the selection of songs. Favs are Slipknot's "New Abortion", OTEP's "Fillthee", nonpoint's "What A Day" and Drowning Pool's "Bodies". Incredible CD for a great price. Pick it up if ya haven't already got it!

This CD is definitely worth the money you pay for it. It has a balance of well known artists and not so well known. The best songs to me are Black Sabbath "The Wizard," Slipknot "New Abortion," and Mudvayne "Death Blooms."

Well, for a live cd, this was excellent. I usually do not buy live cds, because the quality usually [is bad], but i did not realize that it was a live cd when i bought it, and it was impressive. it captures the feel of ozzfest on cd, as best as it can be captured.

One of the greatest Live albums of all time,

At first, I thought Woodstock was the best, now I see that Ozzfest is much better. I'm listening to the CD now as I review it. Here it goes1. Black Sabbath-The Wizard 5/5- The pioneers of metal almost sound better live than in the studio with this track.

Not bad considering it was the worst Ozzfest lineup to date.,

As the above title states, I wasn't exactly crazy about this year's lineup. There were far too many of the faceless new bands that I have come to depise over the past 12 months. However, there are a few really bright spots that make this CD worth a listen. First off, the yet-again reunited Black Sabbath churns out a great live version of The Wizard, which makes me wish I had gone to the actual Ozzfest. I have a soft side for the tracks by Linkin Park, Disturbed, Mudvayne and Papa Roach, seeing how I went to the Day-Offest and saw these bands. Listening to their tracks brings back some good memories. Linkin Park do their concert opener "With You," Disturbed play probably one of their best live songs, "Fear," as do Papa Roach with "Blood Brothers," and Mudvayne play my favorite song of theirs, "Death Blooms." Nonpoint and Zakk Wylde's Black Label Society also contribute some great tracks. However, the rest of this CD really stinks. I was never a big fan of Marilyn Manson, and "Love Song" doesn't change my mind. Then there's the crud like Drowning Pool, American Head Charge and Union Underground that aren't even worth a mention. Overall, it's a hit or miss album. You'd have to like at least 50% of the bands on here to be able to enjoy this CD. P.S. How come Taproot weren't included on here?

Ozzfest relived,

YES, this is a live album which means that the recordings are NOT studio quality, but that is the point for buying the album, it's to relive the experience of being at the concert....or, if you were not there (like I) then it's to get the experience for the first time. I will admit that a few years back I was not one for live recordings. I just didn't like them. But now I appreciate them for what they are. This album is golden, with deserving tracks from some of Metals greatest bands...Black Sabbath included. Other highlights are Manson's 'Love Song' which is one of my favorite Manson tracks...Oteps 'Fillthe' which is freaking awesome (although I would have rather heard 'Blood Pigs' here since if you want a great live track that would be it)...Papa Roach did awesome with 'Blood Brothers' as did the ever hated Linkin Park (I like them)...Disturbed was brilliant (and then again, 'Fear' is one of my favorite Disturbed songs so it couldn't go wrong). Nonpoint and Drowning Pool did fine (Nonpoint slightly surpassing the later) and Slipknot dressed to impress, but it was the likes of Union Underground, American Head Charge and the very stylistic Mudvayne that really blew me away. All in all this is an awesome CD with killer cuts from pretty much everyone involved!

What could be better than all your favorite metal bands together on a live album? Maybe nothing, maybe a lot of things, but this cd is absolutly great! Whether is it Manson's "love song", or Slipknot's "New abortion", or even nonpoint's "what a day", this cd will keep your eyes drawn to the cd player, watching the seconds tick by.Any metalhead will love this cd, if you ever had the chance to go to Ozzfest, this cd will bring back all the memories of that wonderful experience, blasting you with its pulse pounding metal performance. Slipknot's "new abortion" paints a picture of that band's powerful presence on the stage. Live songs are great, and this cd is no exception. If you are a fan of metal, ozzy, or anything in between, buy this cd. |
