I'll be honest, This is really live. No mastering, No dubbing, No crowd shouts being cut out. Thus you oftenly getting very noise poluted tracks some of which guitars seem to blur into one another and drums over take the set and similar such problems. Also, As fore mentioned by other reviewers the line-up is a bit Hard Rock/Alt-Metal oriented, Thus fans of the heavier stuff may not appreciate this either. If your still not scared away heres the good part. I got this for 1.25 and bought it along with others items that were more 'wanted' then this. But looking through the track listing I figured skrew it, a buck and a quarter could go torwards far more useless things. And knowing I didn't even pay 2 whole dollars for this rose my oppinion of it, Its a good album if you just toss it on your Shopping Cart with other stuff your planing to buy!
Besides I've paid 6 bucks to get an even worse made STUDIO album for local bands at concerts, And these had barely 9 songs on them. Pass it up if you want, Could always go buy some gum for the same price!!

First off, I had wanted to attend Ozzfest last year, but couldn't get off from work on the day it came to my town. Grrrr. So I was excited when I heard that a live CD from last years OZZFEST was being released. I just got the CD on Saturday, and although nothing can truly equal being there, this Ozzfest CD comes close.A brief run down of all the tracks on the first CD: 1: Eye for an Eye--Soulfly. Ok, I was dissapointed in this thrack. For some reason it doesn't sound anywhere near as loud or explosive as the studio version from my Soulfly CD. Granted this is live material, but this song just lacked some "ummph" for me. 3/5 2: Voice--Disturbed. Luckily the CD picks up from here on out. The frontman for Disturbed gets the crowd hyped and then goes in with a smashing cut of Voices. Great song, both live and studio. Great song to crank the volume up on your stereo in the morning when you're trying to get rolling. 3:Pushing Me--Slaves on Dope. I have a confession: Before Ozzfest I had never heard of Slaves on Dope. However, the crowd in Phoenix ::were the CD was recorded did:: because they were shouting the bands name before the song starts. Great live thrashing song, and I'll look forward to hearing more from this band in the future. 5/5 4: Suck--Kittie. Oh god no. The worst song on this album. The song itself is poorly done, the vocals are crap and even the instruments sound horrible during this one. Kittie seems like the biggest joke of a metal band out there. 1/5 5: Big F*** You--Primer 55. Now I'm normally not a big fan of rapmetal but this one was fairly well done. Not too much to say for this one. 3/5 6: Ode to Clarissa--Queens of The Stone Age. Why this song was not released on "Rated R" is beyond me. It's a great metal song, the crowd sings along, and it's well played and powerful. One of the highlights of the album. 5/5 7: Keep it Clean--Pitchshifter. The lads from the UK demonstrate their usual sense of humor with this one. Good electro/metal mix 4/5 8: Mirrors Reflection--Taproot. Good emo metal, powerful, great live. 5/5 9: Pain--Soulfly. Ok, this one loses a star for the simple reason the live version pales in comparison to the studio cut for the simple reason Chino Moreno and Will Grady were there to assist for the studio verion. The lead for Slaves on Dope helps sing in the live cut, but its just not the same. Still, I love the song. 4/5 10: I Don't Know--Ozzy Osbourne. Instant 5/5. If you don't know why, you have no buisness listening to metal. At all. And so ends the CD. BUT THERE'S MORE! As a bonus, you get the CD from the first ever Ozzfest back in 96. Some really good retro metal complete with Slayer and Sepultera. Overall a great well balanced CD. Worth every penny.

Nice Mix of Old and New,

Ok, here goes... The first disc is inhabited by mostly flavor of the month mall metal bands, which is what the 2nd stage of Ozzfest is always about. You've got your Taproot, your Disturbed, your Primer 55, your Slaves on Dope, your Kittie, bands that the "KoRn KiDz" come to see. Overall a pretty decent live disc, but nothing spectacular. But then there's the second disc. Whoo boy, this totally makes up for all the mall metal junk! Slayer, Fear Factory, Sepultura, Biohazard, and *GASP* Earth Crisis! *SHUDDER* Neurosis! Genuine, honest to God hardcore! At Ozzfest! You know those overweight, old school metal fans you see every year at Ozzfest? The dudes that sit through every act until Pantera and Ozzy in their little lawn chairs? The second disc takes you back to a time when they stood up and rocked out for the whole thing! And that, ladies and gentlemen, is a beautiful thing. In the end, this 2 CD compilation has enough to please both old school and "nu" school metal heads alike. And if you missed Ozzfest, there's no better substitute.
