a pretty good,solid album,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ozzman Cometh (Audio CD)
The ozzman cometh Cd is not a bad Greatest hits album except for black sabbath parts. MORE OZZY! Ozzy Where Are thou?
1)Black Sabbath 7/10 Like I said no SABBATH! But the song is somewhat okay 2)War pigs " 3)Goodbye to romance 10/10Finally we're getting somewhere! This song is from Blizzard of ozz, one of Ozzy's biggest and best selling album of his solo career. With Randy RHoads it's hard not to have a great song. This song is about saying goodbye to sabbath, which i'm not saying is bad. I like the synthesizers in the end 4)Crazy Train 10/10 This is a good solid song from ozzy. Obviously its one of his most famous. Nothing really extremly great about it to mention. 5)Mr. Crowley 10/10 This is a good song with synthesizers and it is good but i think that ozzy should have stopped at crazy train when picking the good songs from Blizzard. I love the solo that "went to the skies and back" if you know what i mean. Wait there is 2 solos! It reminds me of halloween when getting the big candies! 6) Over the mountain 9/10 This is a good song but it's the only one from Diary of a madman!! Where is "Flying high again", "Diary of a madman" and others? There is nothing bad about this song but it's the last with Randy Rhoads!!! (Who sadly ,tragicaly died in a freak plane accident.) 7)Paranoid 6/10 How many times ozzy? NO MORE SABBATH!!! Should have went with Suicide solution. Well at least this is Ozzy's version of Paranoid. (different from Sabbath version) It's a good song but just don't want to hear sabbath when we bought Ozzy! 8)Bark at the moon 10/10 This is a very good and solid song. The riff is just mind-blowing. Finally ozzy made a decision where he got the best song from the album and put it on the greatest hits album. 9)Shot in the dark 10/10 This again is a very good song. probably the best from the "Ultimate Sin" album. Nothing special to mention about it. 10)Crazy babies 9/10 This is a good song but just like the Over the mountain incident we have another song that isn't really the best from the original album(No rest for the wicked). Ozzy really should have picked Miracle man. 11)No more tears 10/10 This is a great song. A very emotional song. This song proves the ozzy can make a great album and great songs even when he is sober! (In case you didn't know the album this song came from "No more tears" was made by ozzy osbourne when he's in his sober stage) 12) Mama i'm coming home 10/10 This is one of the best songs on the album 13)I don't wanna change the world 11/10 Best song on album hands down. This live version is very raw and great. I would buy Live and loud just for this song 14)I just want you 8/10 Its not a bad song but there is nothing special about it. It came from the "Ozzmosis" album which i think isn't that great except for "Perry Mason" 15)Back on earth 8/10 The same as before, this song isn't really special either. Overall not that many great standout tracks but overall it wasn't that bad. But if Ozzy ever creates a greatist hits album i hope he does delete the sabbath stuff, choose the best song(s) from each album. Thats it, the rest is perfectly fine. The bonus tracks all suck!

This album is the original "Best Of" album by Ozzy Osbourne. It features a few songs by Black Sabbath, and the rest are from his solo carrier. Dont be surprised when you hear different lyrics for "War Pigs", this is the original version about witches that the record company forced the band to change. The remastering definately brings out the bass in the tracks that wasnt as present in the original analog recordings. Great list of tracks, but it could have used "Diary of a Madman" and "Perry Mason". the b-side track also should not have been placed right after "I Just Want You" as the keyboard part sounds very similar.

I am an ozzy and Black Sabbath fan from way back.I bought this disk for one track only and that is Walpurgis. For all you greenies out there this track was done before paranoid was released and the song later became known as war pigs.It was recorded on 4 track 1970 equipment so if you are 15 you might not dig it.The only way to experience all of sabbath and ozzy material is to buy it all.No this album does not have all ozzies good stuff, but it does have some good ones. E-man

OZZMAN RIPPUS OFFITH,

This review is from: Ozzman Cometh (Audio CD)
When this disc came out in 1998, I purchased it the first day, completely unaware that it was a greatest hits compilation. When I brought it home and realized what I had done I was a little dissapointed. This was the first battle I would lose to the OZZY marketing demons known as Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, and their trained monkies John and Jack.
The thing was, at the time, there was a video on MTV for the at the time new release BACK ON EARTH, which, I think, is actually a pretty good track. Apparently it was an unreleased track from 1995's OZZMOSIS, which, is an album that takes a lot of abuse from Ozzy fans, but I've always considered pretty close to classic status. The song in question here, has that sort of sound to it, a strange electronic metal sound.. I dig, I dig. But the rest is hits. The basics; CRAZY TRAIN, CRAZY BABIES, and BARK AT THE MOON. A few live cuts (eh) and some edited versions of songs you love. Nothing all that special, other than the two SABBATH demos at the beggining. No DIARY or anything really exciting. You may find BACK ON EARTH to be a curiosity, thats the only real reason I would pick this one up.

Buy For The Sabbath DEMOs !!!,
By mr. x "mr. y" (illinois) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ozzman Cometh (Audio CD)
The rest of the album is exactly the same as on the full albums with the exeption of no more tears wich the cut, ran-together, shortened the solo, basicaly butchered tyhe song. anyway the demo of black sabbath is the best verion EVER. sabbath added another slow section with some geat lryics,"child calls out for it's mother, mother screaming in the fire" and the music is just so mutch rawer, the Butler's bass is overpowering and Tony's gutiar is a perfict combination, he has more of an edge to his distortion. if the original song was 5 out of 5 the demo is 8 out of 5, I dont lisen to the album version anymore.
as for war pigs this version is known as "Walpurgis" meaning "Witches Sabbath" was supposed to be the version on the paranoid album and the album name but the record label first made sabbath change the name and lyrics of the song to "war pigs" due to the contoversy surrownding the band and having the album releace presided over by the head of the church of satian! next the album name was changed the title of the album to Paranoid without notifing the band, becuse it was thought to be more comerial. that is why on the album cover threr is a pig with a sword. any way . if the album version of war pigs is 5 of 5 the walpurgis version is 15 of 5. buy the this album for the two above mentioned songs both are in the best 5 songs ever recorded- which only the demo verions are the album versions is somewhere around 20 or so.

for those who don't know i want to tell you that the "no more tears" song is edited to make it shorter than the original not to erase the foul language. thank you

I feel a little guilty that I only rated one of Ozzy's albums 3 stars, but on his first greatest hits there is so much to be desired. The track listing should have been like this:Crazy Train Now THAT would be a hard-wallopin' Ozzy collection. There is just so much missin here. You are better off getting all of Ozzy's albums.

MISSING ALOT,
By A Customer
This review is from: Ozzman Cometh (Audio CD)
THIS WAS OK... BUT WAS MISSING A TON. WHERE IS "YOU CANT KILL ROCK N ROLL" OR "FLY HIGH AGAIN". THIS DIDNT EVEN HAVE "PERRY MASON".BUT, THEY PUT WORSE SONGS LIKE CRAZY BABIES AND GOODBYE ROMANCE, WICH I DONT LIKE VERY MUCH. AND WHY WAS THE RECORDING OF WAR PIGS AND BLACK SABBATH SO CRAPY. I DOWNLOADED MUCH BETTER QUALITY WARPIGS OF WINMX. BUT, THIS DID INCLUDE SOME VERY GOOD SONGS LIKE NO MORE TEARS(THOUGH THE UNCUT VERSION IS MUCH BETTER) AND OF COURSE, CRAZY TRAIN. ITS JUST A GOOD CD. NOT GREAT, BUT NOT BAD.I SEE THAT MANY OTHER PEOPLE WHO WROTE REVIEWS AGREE WITH ME. I GUESS I COULD GIVE IT 3 1/2 FOR THE SENSE TO PUT IN BARK AT THE MOON AND OVER THE MOUNTAIN.

Good, but could have been better,
This review is from: Ozzman Cometh (Audio CD)
A good collection of hits, but there are more that could have been on there...There's no S.I.N., Tonight, Desire, Thunder Underground, Fire In The Sky, You're No Different. Only 15 songs to cover a 14 year period, and 2 of the songs are from the Black Sabbath era, making it 13 songs to cover a 14 year period of solo performance. Less than 1 song per year. I agree with Richburg. Jamie, without Ozzy and Black Sabbath(one of the best bands of all time), there would be no hard rock or metal today. Next time, show a little respect to the man that made it ok for Rob Zombie and Slipknot to play their own music.

Looks like I'm odd man out on this review. I loved this compilation. I also have the R. Rhodes tribute CD and hate it.
So, this one is the CD I drag out when I want an Ozzy fix. |
