Ozzy Osbourne-The DVD Diary Of The Heavy Metal Madman,
By Eric Ericson "RedSabbath" (Venice, Florida USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Ozzy Osbourne - Don't Blame Me (DVD)
This well put together documentary, made in 1991, showcases the incredible life of the Heavy Metal Madman, Ozzy Osbourne. Starting off with his childhood and finishing with his successful "final" 1991 No More Tears tour, this is a must own for any fan of hard rock. With over 24 songs from his solo career as well as his work with the legendary Black Sabbath, you'll be jammin' forever! And if you think other behind-the-scene shows dish out the dirt, it definately doesn't compare to the voice of Oz! He, as well as other rockers from bands like Motorhead, Metallica, Def Leppard, and Motley Crue, tell you all the insane stories of life on the road with Ozzy, as well as his time with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, & Bill Ward, otherwise known as Black Sabbath. You get such a great collection with this DVD: The 1970 Black Sabbath Paris performances, the Randy Rhoads demos, the 1985 Live Aid reunion, the complete unedited videos for "Breaking All The Rules" and "No More Tears", the Moscow Peace Festival, and the list goes on and on. At over one and a half hours long, this DVD will just make you "Bark At The Moon" with insane delight. All Hail Ozzy!

Any Ozzy fan should have this,

I just got this DVD and it is excellent. It does a great job telling the story of Ozzy's life, from back when Ozzy, Bill Ward, Geezer Butler and Tonni Iommi formed "Earth" and their start as Black Sabbath, how they broke up, up to where Ozzy is now. It focuses on his music, but it also goes into his family life with his wife Sharon and his three children, and Ozzy's late guitarist Randy Rhoads. When I ordered this, originally had assumed that it was a collection of his music videos, with some interviews and concert footage as a bonus. Turns out I was wrong, as there's only one full music video, which is No More Tears. But the rest of this video is so good that I don't think that the lack of videos takes too much away. It has interviews with Ozzy, Bill Ward, Alice Cooper, Sharon Osbourne, and many other people, it has tons of concert footage, it tells the stories of the bat and the dove, and a lot more than that. For anyone who's an Ozzy fan I strongly recommend this.

What happened to the footage from the VHS????????????,

I love this DVD, don't get me wrong, but there was WAY MORE footage on the VHS tape. Where is the footage of Ozzy talking about killing his wife when he was drunk. There was also a lot more footage of Randy Rhoads and Ozzy talking about his death. Did that all disappear or what? I'm not trying to be morbid or anything, but why would that stuff be taken out??????????

Ozzy Unleashed !,

This is a truly amazing dvd with concert footages aplenty ranging from his days in Black Sabbath all the way to his kick-ass solo career. You can notice the "bass" change in the dvd when he removes himself from the Black Sabbath era as there is a lack of heavy bass in most of their songs. Turn it up real loud , and as the dvd shifts to the solo career " I don't want to change the world " just shifts into overdrive with amazing frantic concert footages guaranteed to put some goosebumps on you , forcing you to chant " Ozzy ! Ozzy ! " It basically starts off with Ozzy giving his views on his Black Sabbath days , and others sharing their thoughts. It slowly moves on to Ozzy's solo career where he speaks off Randy Rhoads , his family and musical direction. This dvd gives a good overview and history of the " Mad Man " himself , and whether you're an Ozzy fan or not , you're guaranteed to be a huge one after this !

Ozzy, should you ever read this review, then I wish to convey my apologies. As an 80's raised metalhead, my allegiance was towards Judas Priest and Iron Maiden and the assorted bands that were inspired by those respective camps. I had no real appreciation for your being one of the founding fathers of modern metal, but rather had wrtten you off as a publicity hungry ham trying to jump start his solo career. Watching this vid, it's obvious that there's mucho substance beneath the style and I listen to your music with a more open ear. This vid doesn't just flash a few obligatory videos and then "The End". It conveys some serious attitude that makes for an entertaining biography even if you're not into Ozzy. For me, no detail is neglected. My favorite part: that old fart lawyer who represented the parents of that loser who offed himself. Forget Sixx, Cooper, Rubin, Ulrich and Lemmy in their recollections. That guy was a riot! As a matter of fact, if you're going to release a new album, call it "Get the Gun...Shoot..Shoot..Shoot" just to anger him! I'd buy it in a sec!

OZZY! OZZY! GOD BLESS YOU MAN!,

Hello all you metalheads out there! I'm here to inform you that this is nearly the best biography one will ever find on John 'Ozzy' Osbourne. Don't Blame Me gives us an up close and way too personal glimpse into the life of the larger than life rock n' roll demagogue! We learn about how a one makes the transition from being dirt poor to becoming the rock's most notorious madman. The viewer will be shocked, amazed, and entertained all at once. This documentary is very well structured, with thoughtful and informative commentary about the OZ. Among those who shed the unholy truth about Ozzy are: Motorhead's own Lemmy Kilmister, shock rock founder Alice Cooper, Sharon Osbourne, Delores Rhodes, Bill Ward, and many more. There are many hilarious tales to hear about Ozzy's excessive drug and alcohol abuse. We also learn just how much the death of former guitarist Randy Rhodes threw Ozzy into a drunken depression, which lasted for several years. The Ozzman himself also tells all. This is the most informative 1 and 1/2 hour celebrity biography I have ever set my eyes and ears upon! This is a must have for any Ozzy Fan. From biting bats to Suicide Solutions, we embark upon a quest to explore the dangers, tragedies, and successes, which paved the bumpy avenue, that is the life of Ozzy Osbourne. In conclusion, all I have to say is grab your demon alcohol, turn on your players and prepare to experience a rock n' roll revelation!

A Must Have For Ozzy Enthusiasts.,

This DVD is an excellent overview of Ozzy's life and career. Aside from "No More Tears", the songs listed on the package are not complete videos. Rather, each track is pieced together with the story and blends very well. Technically speaking, this DVD is in Dolby 5.1 and sounds great. The bonus materials consist of a written biography and discography.I have been a huge Ozzy fan for years and this is the best biography I have seen on the man. A definite must for Ozzy and Sabbath fans. I have been annoyed by the poor quality of other music DVDs, however, this one really surprised me. It really is that good.

This DVD is a must have for any Ozzy or Black Sabbath fan. Everything you need to know about the legend himself is on here. Sabbath fans won't be dissapointed either. The DVD spans Ozzy's entire career, from his early Sabath days up to the early nineties. If you're looking for a concert DVD or music videos you might be dissapointed - Live and Loud will fill that gap. There are a few live perfomances on here, but they are mostly interrupted by interviews. The full length music video of the excellent "No More Tears" is included and finishes this DVD off very nicely. A very personal view into the life of the Madman. I highly recommend this DVD. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!

THis is really a fine opprtunity to get to know Ozzy better. The trouble is that they took out some footage from the original VHS, which was released originally back in 1992. Anyway, it's a great DVD.
