To buy all Serrat albums is not a waste of money, but if you can not afford to buy more than one...... THIS IS THE ONE.

Dear Serrat fans,I do love Serrat's art deeply. He has been one of my favourite singers and popular composers of all my lifetime, and perhaps the best. I have enjoyed immensely his music, his poetry (not always his), his Castillian diction when singing in Spanish, his consistent choice of good material. He has invariably been a most satisfying and even emotional experience. HOWEVER, I think it is now time that his CDs come with a fair fill up. We are still being given as few as 9 titles per CD, where the current standard is close to 20. True, there is one Serrat CD in Catalonian that contains 34 titles, and this one contains 24, but we are talking here about very exceptional circumstances. IT IS NOW TIME for someone in charge to organize Serrat's recordings in an inclusive, more or less complete anthology, close to chronological, so that we can at last have even better value for money when buying Serrat. No longer there is any justification whatsoever for 1/2 or 2/3 empty CDs. As far as I am concerned, I am on strike. I am no longer buying any popular music CDs with less than 18 titles, preferably over 20, whatever the artist might be, and that includes my favourite Serrat! Consider that a single CD can easily contain up to 79 minutes of music! Please oblige.

Such a talented Spanish singer/composer deserves a much better compilation than this...,

Joan Manuel Serrat is, by far, a unique composer/singer.
He's also a poet, a true singer, a modern minstrel. One of the best in the history of Spanish music, at no doubt. His songs are full of beautiful poetry and also of common facts of real life, everything in a very delicate balance. And adding to it, he feels proudly to sing in his very "EZZPANOL" accent. Making quite perceivable the differences between "C", "S" and "Z". If you've ever had the chance to go to his concerts, you may have found that Serrat sings exactly with the same emotion in front of larger crowds, or even if the audience is quite small. He has composed a lot of extraordinary songs. "Mediterraneo" ('Mediterranean'), "La Mujer Que Yo Quiero" ('The Woman That I Want'), "Penelope", "Cantares" ('Singings'), and many others. For his most loyal fans, almost any Serrat album is a masterpiece by itself. This 24-tunes selection of "Paginas Inolvidables" ('Unforgettable Pages') is quite good, specially for those beginners who are digging in the lines of Spanish Trova, Cancion Testimonial or even Nueva Trova. However, please be advised that the sound quality is not the best, and some tunes, being originally recorded in Spain in the 1960s, have been taken in their original Mono sound versions.

GREAT SONGS from 1968 thru 1974,

This is a great album but not his "all time greatest hits". It is a copy of an older album not longer produced called "ANTOLOGIA (1968-1974)". JMS has some pre-1968 music rarely found probably due to recording rights and also many songs in Catalonyan (or Catalán) which are rarely mixed with his albums in Spanish. He also has some music in other languages. There are many albums produced in some countries for local distribution and many "live" recordings. Maybe one day all his songs will be available in one big box since his career is 40+ years of delightful music. His official website, [...], is a good place to see all the music he made.

Aunque yo naci en el 74, creci escuchando a Serrat por mis hermanos y hermanas.
Este album tiene todas las canciones que recuerdo y mas. Para quienes les pega la melancolia con tubo, este album es indispensable.

To me,Joan Manuel Serrat is the best Spanish born songwriter of his generation. That premise may bias my review.Still,I wish to reflect on the emotions his work has provoked in me,throughout my life.LUCIA being my favorite track,it has provoked deep longing yet healthy lust.PENELOPE and MEDITERRANEO have become almost tantamount to national anthems. And yes, while SEÑORA is the undiscovered antiestablishment hymn,AQUELLAS PEQUEÑAS COSAS
basks in the sun as a psychoanalytical lizard.Forgiving the great song MANUEL was left out, this a classic album by the once ENFANT TERRIBLE of Spain.
