To begin, if the web page states the item I am reviewing is a P-51B it is incorrect. The P-51B is smaller than the P-51 (no "B" suffix) that I am reviewing.

Although I have not yet assembled this kit I have built one exactly like it years ago. I am now 68 years old. When I built my first one I think I was around 17 years old. The kit is not a beginner's model, you need to have some experience building balsa wood stick model airplanes, and patience to allow the glue to completely dry before moving on to the next procedure of assembly. I have seen a real P-51 WWII aircraft that the kit is made to represent and it produces a very nice replica of it. I assembled my first P51 as a control line motor powered model and it flew very well. I am planning on making this into a motor powered, radio control model since I can no longer walk around in circles.

This model aircraft by Guillows can be assembled to fly with a wind-it-up rubber band powered free flight system, meaning no guidance while it is in flight. It can be made to fly the same way with an actual model airplane motor, or it can be flown, with a motor, by the control line system or even radio control. It is very versatile. I might also add that most Guillows stick model airplanes are capable of flying by the same methods. They are all great kits by a company with a well established name.
