5.0 out of 5 stars Pretty Boys Making Kick-Ass Music, January 8, 2005

Lady La (Brooklyn, NY) - See all my reviews

I had the privledge of seeing this band at Don Hill's last summer and was blown away. Their music is catchy, rocking and hip. The Adored are fantastic performers with impeccable style and infectious energy.
Got the EP today and proceeded to dance around my bedroom in wild abandon. Loved the addition of Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks on "TV Riot" and "Sex is in Fashion." Quality disk. Can't wait for their first full-length!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, a band that puts the PUNK in dancepunk, March 24, 2005

This review is from: E.P. (Audio CD)
This is one of the best releases I have heard in a long time. 5 songs, and they go by way too fast. The comparisons to the Buzzcocks is very appropro and they have the seal of approval with Pete Shelley singing prominent backing vox on 2 tracks (tv riot and sex is in fashion). With all the talk nowadyas of "dance-punk/disco-punk" i wonder where the "punk" is in most of the bands who get this tag. The Adored definitely have the "punk" energy/angst while maintaining super catchy dance rhythms that doesnt fall into the trap of sounding like another "angular staccato guitar riff disco punk band". The songs are well crafted and well played. A good high energy band to see live if you get the chance. Supposedly there is a full length out in the coming fall and that record, if it holds up to the quality of this ep, should put these guys on the music map. It's a shame they arent already there as this record is better than most similar bands' overhyped releases you will hear. SOLID

5.0 out of 5 stars If you have good taste, then you will love this album, March 15, 2005
This review is from: E.P. (Audio CD)
Looking for a hot new band with hot new music? Then I recommend The Adored. They are about to be as huge as their egos. These catchy, pop, dance songs are a guilty-pleasure you do not have to feel guilty listening/dancing to-- these guys are truly great musicians. Enjoy this album, check out their shows and keep an eye out for new music soon (www.rocktheadored.com).

The Adored are one of the best new bands from LA. They are known for being energetic and good looking. The Buzzcocks and early English punk inspire them in general. They have that with knowledge of Britpop bands. "TV Riot" is an anglo-anthem and surely to be a single at some point. "Chemistry" is more like The Buzzcocks and a new band, The Futureheads. "She's A Boy" deals with androgyny popular with Britpop fans. The Adored have dynamics and interesting phrasing. They even have Pete Shelley of The Buzzcocks singing on "Sex Is In Fashion." I saw The Adored play recently. They opened for Electric Six. They were provocative. They were willing to put on a show and try to get people excited about their music who may have never heard of them. If they have more songs like this and even more drive to be heard, I think The Adored have a chance.
