5.0 out of 5 stars P.I.E.C.E.S. A Booster's Story
I am a bit biased and somewhat embarrassed at times (about the lifestyle endured), because Tamara is my sister. However, this book is true to a time with several liberties taken. Readers, if you feel P.I.E.C.E.S. left you hanging, know that there is a sequel "Finding Tara" with a nice ending coming soon.

The title was not appropriate for this book. If this is a boosters story why was there so little about her boosting? This should have been titled "Dopefiend". It took me a week to read this book because it was so boring. The end never ended because we were left hanging. We don't know if Tara got back with Julio, if her parents forgave her and what they had to say or if...

4.0 out of 5 stars Booster's, April 18, 2010
This review is from: P.I.E.C.E.S.: A Booster's Story (Paperback)
I enjoyed this read it had me going I didn't want to put it down, waiting to see what Tara was going to do next. Even through Tara was suppose to be this hard street person in reality she was weak. How could you be on top then meet, supposely the love of your life and fall off to hit rock bottom because he is locked up, I couldn't get part. I understand there will be a part two, I hope Tara will get it together in the sequal. I like Tammy's writing and will but her next book.

This book took me back remembering how hard it was being a child in the fast life. Tamara turned her life around and has another book in her that chronicles the recovery process, so look out for the sequel, third book and possibly a movie.

It took me a week to read this book because it was so boring. The end never ended because we were left hanging. We don't know if Tara got back with Julio, if her parents forgave her and what they had to say or if she hooked up with Scott. TO MANY QUESTIONS LEFT UNANSWERED. If there is a sequel I won't buy or read it. The best message was seek the Lord and you will find your purpose. The funny thing is, it's not a christian fiction book. Definately for teens to relate to. I'm past this read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful, passionate, and heart warming, January 1, 2011
This review is from: P.I.E.C.E.S.: A Booster's Story (Paperback)
I read both of Tamara Fournier's book this week. As a criminologist and expert in urban crime and communities I was stuck by how much I learned in these important pieces of fiction. The author's ability to tell a powerful story is impressive. Researchers work for decades to come up with insights and theories about the lives of marginalized people. Whether a work of fact or fiction this novel humanizes a side of criminal activity without glorifying it. Readers get to feel what the characters, particularly, Tara was feeling. Readers get a real glimpse into a romantic love story, the power of intergenerational patterns of a crime involved family, the profound love for family, struggle for recovery from addiction, and much more. This is a must read for those working with people struggling with addictions. It won't give you the answers but it will give you some insights into a world most people just can't imagine. I look forward to reading books 3 and 4. I want to know more about these characters and how the romance turns out. I was both entertained and educated by this book. It was a nice break from some of the academic literature that I typically read! Thanks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Took me there, March 11, 2009
This review is from: P.I.E.C.E.S.: A Booster's Story (Paperback)
This book really took me there and back, it had reality , drama, and truth. I found myself could not put this book down and never wanting this book to end. I hope Ms. Fournier continue to write and bring more messages to the youth of today. And please say there is a sequel to this book.
