My dog we just rescued is 75 pounds and still a puppy of 18 mos. He likes to chase squirrels while on his walk (we have large oak trees lining the neighborhood) and now petite, little me can control him with a tug or two (my box head lab has a very thick neck). This is an awesome collar but I only use it to walk him and transport the dog, otherwise I just use the reflective soft collar on him.

I have a 95 pound Yellow Lab that is more like a small moose than a dog.
He is very high energy and, if you are not careful, he will take YOU for a walk.
I have tried choke collars but, not only do I find them cruel, they simply do not work on my moose.
We have also tried a shock collar but, again I find them cruel and they do not work well on my dog.

I purchased this collar because it was recommended by a professional dog trainer. At first I doubted that it would work and I thought that this collar was also a bit cruel, if not more cruel, than the other two collars.

Then I used it!

Within minutes of putting this collar on our dog, my wife had him in total control! I was amazed to find that very quickly my dog was able to walk on his leash without tugging my wife off her feet.

The idea of the collar is very simple. Went the dog pulls, the collar gives him a slight pinch. The dog quickly recognizes that the pinch is caused by his own pulling, When the dog stops pulling the pinch also stops. and the dog also quickly learns that lesson.

I find this collar to be much less cruel than both the choke collar and the shock collar as it gives the dog control total over the correction stimulus, is a very quick way to train the dog and therefore does not have to be used as much, and it keep both the handler and the dog safe.

While I do not find any of these options to be the perfect solution to taming your unruly dog, I find this collar the least of all the evils currently offered.
