This review is from: The Clique #10: P.S. I Loathe You (Clique Series) (Kindle Edition)
Im really a bit of a sad story lover. I loved the way everything kinda fits together to form "a perfect storm". Out of all the Clique books, this is definitly my favorite.

The Pretty Committee is back, and they are far from love and friendship. In fact, it seems like the more and more they are together, the more they just can't stand each other.
The only thing that is more unstable than their friendship are the boys in their lives. To cut it short, Massie has moved on to another soccer player, Dempsey, who just so happens to be great friends with Layne. Even though Massie says she's over Derrington, Dylan knows if she tells Massie she has a crush on him, things won't bode well for her. Kristen finally has the guy she's literally been waiting for but just isn't sure if he is the right person. Claire seems to be the only one without boy trouble, as she finally has Cam back in her life. The only thing on Alicia's mind is deciding whether she should stick around and take Massie's controlling nature or move on to bigger and better friends. Once again, it seems like the PC are on the brink of breaking up, and the consistency of Massie's overly-boy-loving, bossy self does not help at all. The only character in the entire novel who seems interested in keeping the girls together is Claire. In this installment, Harrison allows readers to get to know Kristen and Dylan more as they are the main narrators. Kristen seems to have it rougher than the other girls, not just because of how her boy just might not be the right one, but also her friendship with Layne is totally forbidden if Massie ever discovered it. Of course, Layne is a better and loyal friend than Massie, but Kristen just isn't sure if she is able to leave the PC behind. Dylan, on the other hand, understands that it would be the ultimate betrayal to date one of her friend's boys, and Massie is no exception. Will Kristen, Dylan, and Alicia finally reach a decision that life would be better off without the ringleader to bark orders, or will they be unable to end the friendship that has lasted between them and Massie for so long? P.S. I LOATHE YOU contains all of the same elements as the other CLIQUE novels: betrayal, gossip, and boys. Fans will not be disappointed in this installment, as they are able to understand Kristen and Dylan more, who were only minor characters in the past. Reviewed by: Randstostipher "tallnlankyrn" Nguyen

The best book!!!!!!!!!!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: P. S. I Loathe You (The Clique #10) (Paperback)
I love this book because it is very interesting! The setting of this book is at Octavian Country Day School better known as OCD. It is a private school and only for girls! In the beginning, Massie and her friends have just started 8th grade. They can't wait to meet "hot" guys at school. Dylan is the first one to find a guy she likes when she has detention. It is Derrick, her friend Massie's ex. boyfriend. They secretly date because they dont want Massie to know. Meanwhile, Alicia and the other girls try out for the cheer squad. Alicia has always been good with routines. She asks Massie if she can be head cheerleader and Massie says NO! So Alicia decides to make up a dance squad of her own. Kristen, on the other hand is worried about what might happen if Massie finds out that she's hanging out with Layne. The reason Kristen is hanging out with Layne is because they are both part of the scholarship program. Kristen also has a problem when she finds out the guy Massie and Layne likes actually likes herself and she doesn't know if she should tell them. Claire is upset when her friends get mad at each other for betraying the other ones and their group splits up. Massie is trying to keep up with everything but then finds out Dylan is dating her ex. boyfriend, she gets mad. The resolution happens in the next book. They get back together after they realize how dumb it was to fight.

A Big Disappointment.,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: P. S. I Loathe You (The Clique #10) (Paperback)
I read about this book, and though I love the Clique books, this one was the worst of them all.
I like how Dylan and Kristen got some spotlight here, and Massie became a real jerk. But it's not really interesting, and it goes by too fast, in a kinda daze. To this moment I'm not sure what the plotline was. And there was this thing where Massie built OCD's first-ever cheering leading squad, but it had such a small part in the book, and without much reason, I didn't care for it. And Kristen's friendship with Layne to get Dempsey to like Layne, since Massie is acting so mean to Kristen, seems small and incomplete. The ending was also confusing. Basically Massie became a jerk for no reason and all her friends but Claire ditched her, so she said she was going to join a new clique. If nothing else, I did like how Lisi started establishing some strong couples- Claire and Cam, Alicia and Josh, Kristen and Dune. Anyways, don't buy this book unless you are a die-hard fan and it annoys you to not own one of the books, like *sigh* me.

This review is from: P. S. I Loathe You (The Clique #10) (Paperback)
This is the best book of the series, by far. I think lisi really embraced the characters for who they were, and opened up the clique series to the real world that her characters are part of (the setting of which is in westchester county new york, where I live close to and go to school with people just like these girls)- that a group of friends worshipping its leader to make her happy despite what makes them happy can NOT last forever, that cliques and unhealthy relationships like this change, that everyone wants something real in their lives to hold onto while having their fantasies as well.
I like that Kristen is given substance, she hasn't been more than a 2D character and mindless follower from the start, and it shows that she is human with *desires and interests*. imagine that! Who knew that she'd be a cat-lover? How full-hearted she really is while struggling to fit in with a world that requires a suppression of it? I love Dylan's struggle and tie-in with Derrick, because it was a question I'd had once Massie and Derrick started dating- what about Dylan and Kristen, who both really liked him? How do they feel about that? How could she do that to them without even asking? Then the answer came: Because she's Massie Block. It makes Dylan so much more real, and makes the series more whole. I enjoyed the lack of focus on Claire, as she'd had a lot of spotlight in all the others save BF@T's and we've discovered most of all there is to know about Claire's character. I like Alicia's constant struggle with herself as being the first of the girls to really have realized that she needs to compromise herself to be happy with Massie, and how it manifests here. Most of all, I like Massie. I think that people are saying that Massie just becomes extraordinarily mean here, but really, Massie was this way all along. The only reason why she looks so much more mean now is because the story is told largely from Dylan and Kristen's point of view, who were, before this novel, taking the backseat in the story and were faceless and somewhat empty characters other than Massie's loyal fem-servants, and the story was not told by the point of view of people who are either wholly vying for her approval or striving to destroy her, but were struggling in between, as Dylan and Kristen had ALWAYS been. I like the honesty that Lisi captured with Massie's character, that girls like Massie, while of course being multi-layered, do ultimately want friends who are willing to let her have claim to what she wants, and be happy with doing so, and, even when coming to the realization that she could KEEP her friends if she gave them a little leeway, she didn't value them enough as people and more valued them as pawns to her popularity to give them enough freedom to keep them, as made evident with her ease at which she dumped and took back friends throughout the series. I liked the line where Massie says/thinks that she wasn't going to sacrifice her standards to be happy- 'my friends had done nothing but that but look how happy it made *them*', and decides to hold on to her standards. It makes her so damn real that it gave me goosebumps. I'm happy that upon reading this book I've been able to respect Lisi Harrison's angle in writing these stories, the goal that she herself stated that she was writing these for- to shed truth and light upon a subject that absolutely everyone ever in a school or work system has experience with, and respsect Lisi as a real, laudable author. Any fan of the clique series as a whole who was disappointed in this book is not a lover of good writing or reading, has missed the entire point of the books and the characters, and is upset over their broken illusions with the part of them- the part of everyone- that wants to be Massie Block. *****/*****.

a few cmplaints,
This review is from: The Clique #10: P.S. I Loathe You (Clique Series) (Kindle Edition)
okay so in this book they kind of seperate right? well i fiind the books are better when they are like togther hving fun. dont get me wrong i love the series and stuff but i dont want to hear the brand of every item of clothing you are wearing. i wish that the books would switch between al the girls so we could see all perspectives in one. in every clique book i have read there has always been at least one part where oneofthegirlstalklikethis i dont know if the author thinks that it is fun or what but yea i get it they are talking fast. lastly some of those glossip girl flavors stink in fact lisi is asking fans to e mail ideas for flavors not only is that unprofessional in my opinion but it just kind of makes it official in my mind that she is an airhead (yea i know what those tacky super fans are saying ehmygod. oh boy.) well kind of hard to believe that i enjoy those books but i do there is just some things that bother me.
gossip girl flavors that i came up with in a few seconds: black forest cake chocolate chip cookie apple pie pina coloda strawberry daquari chocolate mousse coffee cake mint chocolate chip vanilla bean icecream she might have used one or two of those but really it doesnt take much imagination to think of different kind of food they can smother on there lips.

this book got a 4/5 for me just because it was another addition to my fave series.
that said, here are a few insights into the book...***i guess you could consider this spoilers, but ill try not to give anything to huge away. 1) massie and claire, the two main characters, have pretty much no perspective or point of view in the novel... its all kristen and dylan. which I PERSONALLY hated. 2) b/c there is no massie pretty much, you get her in very small doses... aka lame comebacks, dull glossip girl flavors, and wrong descriptions of her character... you'll realize this last one in the beginning... 3) things try to come together in this novel, but it obviously doesn't work... layne becomes bff with a PC girl... i bet you're thinking "what? yeah right' yeah, me too but it happens and it doesn't fit w/ the previous books... other than that, read it and see what you think. its different, a little TOO different for me. all i hope is that lisi realizes that this book absoultely BOMBED and she'll get her brain back and put massie and claire in the next one, which btw is called BOYS R US. so hopefully she'll redeem herself.

This was one of the best Clique novels that I have read. I love that it gave the perspective of Dylan and Kristen, who usually are more in the background to Claire, Alicia and, of course, Massie. I could not believe how cruel and mean Massie was in this novel! She's never particularly nice, but at least she's usually caring towards her friends. When she started making cracks about Kristen not living in a "real" house, it was a very low blow. I kept hoping that her friends would finally tell her off and ditch her. No one needs a friend who wants them to fail or look bad to make themselves look better. I agreed with everything Dylan said to her. I hope her friends all move on without her and she feels totally alone and learns not to be such an awful human being and learn what it means to really care about other people and put their feelings first for a change.

Even though I'm 30, I get a kick out of The Clique series. Massie's over the top Alpha-ness never fails to amuse me after a long day of work. |
