Love it, go grab it and read it! Rate it 5 great giganticstars! Wonderful, fantastic, magnificent book! By two great authors,Paula Danziger & Ann M. Martin. If you like writing letters, you shall love this book. This whole book is written in letters, which is amazing. If you're into friendship you'll love this book as well. That's because this book is about these two girls named Elizabeth and Tara* Starr who are best friends but Tara* Starr had to move because their parents say they needed to move for a reason. However they are totally different. Elizabeth is shy adn quiet, hates being the center of attention, and lives in a house in which possesstions are more important than feelings. Tara* Starr wears glitter and sequins, loves to be the center of attention, and is the only child of the young parents aho are takinga long time to grow up. But even through they are different; their frienship is really good. So now they have to communicate by letter because long-distances calls are too expensive. While Tara* Starr's family settles down in a good position, Elizabeth's family fall apart. But can they still stay friends forever or will the distance between them tear them apart and away from each other? After you read the book you'll want to know more. This book can be a never-enging written letter story response between two girls. This book is an active and charming story written through a letter layout. It's letter to letter back and forth talking to each other but not by meeting each other. The letters have feeling and emotion written in it. The events and action happens inside the letters. This book gets thrilling and more exciting by the moment you read it. You'll want to keep reading till you finish the book. This book is a wonderful, emotional, touching, and a sad book at the same time. I say after you read this book you'll love it and it'll inspire you to love writing letters and be a true friend. Just like it inspired me to do that.

--Elizabeth Richardson is in for a difficult seventh-grade year. Shortly before the year starts, her best friend Tara-Starr Lane moves to Ohio, leaving Elizabeth lonely and angry. After getting over the shock of her best friend's moving, Elizabeth watches in horror as her father, fired from his well-paying job, sinks into alcoholism and depression. Elizabeth knows her family is falling apart, and she writes about all this in letters to her best friend, now calling herself "Tara*Starr" with the star in the middle, whose life is drastically improving: her previously childlike parents are now acting like parents, and her family is making enough money not to have to use food stamps and other such charities: the girls' lives are rapidly changing and they are becoming different as well: can they still survive being best friends with their changing lives and the distance between them? --I found this book very realistic, probably because it was written letter by letter, just as it would have been done in real life! Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin are different people, and although they aren't exactly the same as their characters, their traits show up in their characters' writing, forming an intriguing relationship both with the characters and with them. And, of course, they have dedicated the book to Kathy Ames, the pen pal of Ann's who introduced Paula to Ann. --Marisa

P.S. Longer Letter Later
By: Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin
Reviewed by: S. Ku
Period: 1

The book, P.S. Longer Letter Later, is written by Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin. This a diary of two best friend's letters back and forth. When Tara*Starr moves away, Elizabeth is furious, but she loves Tara*Starr too much to make her, her ex-best friend. They write letters back and forth, until one day, Elizabeth's father loses his job. The family has money issues and Tara*Starr tries to help Elizabeth feel better, but Elizabeth takes it as an insult. The friendship ends with a letter saying, "I hope you enjoy your life." However, Tara*Starr still wants to be friends, and she sends letter until Elizabeth answers saying that she still wants to be friends. Elizabeth's dad soon leaves the family, and Tara*Starr's "Charents" are pregnant. Everything goes downhill for them, but their friendship stays strong.

I liked this book because it kept me intrested and I never wanted to put the book down. It had many things in the book that a preteen like me could relate to. I've had ups and downs with my best friend, just like Tara*Starr and Elizabeth had fights over the letters. Just like on page 143. It says, "So this is it. Goodbye. Elizabeth. P.S. I never said we hide behind couches when the doorbell rings. I just said we hide. But you make stuff up, Tara, and then you try to build a case on it-- and yell at me for something you made up. Enjoy your life, Tara." This is when they had their first fight that I can relate to. However, we have always reunited as best friends, also like Tara*Starr and Elizabeth. We've shared our awkward moments, stupid moments, funny moments, and most importantly, kodak moment. Just like on page I can also relate to Tara*Starr moving, because one of my friends had also moved before away. That is why I like this book.

I dislike this book because of the story plot. I don't like how Elizabeth's father moved away on page 178. "Girls, I have something to tell you. I'm not coming with you today. I need a little space, some time to myself. I have to figure some things out. So... you go to the new place, you and your mom. I'll be in touch next week." I didn't like that part because it was very sad, and I think it was overdramatic. This is part of the reason why I do not like this book.

My favorite part of the book was when Tara*Starr and Elizabeth made up, and became best friends again. I liked this part, because it reminds me of when I make up with my friends, and how I would never take them for granted ever again. My least favorite part of this book was when Tara*Starr and Elizabeth got in the fight, because it wasn't that interesting and Elizabeth was being very stubborn when she wasn't talking to Tara*Starr.

The title of this book is P.S. Longer Letter Later. The author is Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin and the type of this book is fiction. The two main characters in this book are Tarra*Starr and Elizabeth. The setting of this book is at both of these girls houses. Well there just ordinary houses. Then one girl moves away then all they can do is pass notes to one another, neither of the girls like the idea of there best friend moving away. But they still can't stop it from happening. The part that I liked best was when, through the whole story they would pass notes back and fourth to each other because they couldn't do anything else. This was supposed to be a realistic book and it was.
One quote that I liked in this story was-"Don't you think there's something weird and funny about a footstool covering a toe print?"
Another quote that I liked about this book was-"I was kidnapped by the charents." (My child like parents) The whole summary is that best friends write notes back and fourth to each other as one moves away. Then something big happens and that is for me to know and for you to find out.
The pretty much only thing that I did not like about this story was that, it was a little to long. And they spelled so many words wrong, and that made it really hard for me to read. If someone was to read this book then I think it should be either a 6th or 7th grade girl. That loves to pass notes. I would probably recommend this book to someone else.

5.0 out of 5 stars P.S. Longer Letter Later...a great book!, March 1, 2005
I read a book lately called "P.S. Longer Letter Later" and I thought that it was a great book. The book is about two twelve-year old girls that are best friends, Elizabeth and Tara (or Tara*Starr, what she prefers to be called). In the book, the two friends are totally happy, until Tara*Starr moves to Ohio, and they have no choice but to continue their relationship through letters. The whole book is Tara and Elizabeth sending letters to each other. I recommend this book because I could relate to the characters and I liked them, and see if their friendship lasts, and see if they survive.

The characters in this book aren't perfect, so they're pretty much like the typical teenager. Tara*Starr and Elizabeth are the opposite of each other, for Tara*Starr is loud, loves to be the center of attention and loves to act, and comes from a richer family; and has parents that are irresponsible and act like children. Elizabeth is genuinely quiet, loves to write and recite poetry, has a poor family, and her dad is an alcoholic. It's interesting to read about how Elizabeth puts up with everything and always survives.

The book starts out when the girls both go back to school for 7th grade. Tara*Starr has to start all over again; with a new house and friends. Meanwhile, Elizabeth goes back to school without her best friend. The interaction between Elizabeth and Tara make you really want to keep reading. Sometimes they talk about what they did at school or how their family is doing. Some exciting events happen along the way, and they both travel through hard times. Elizabeth's dad buys stuff that their family can't afford; and Tara*Starr has problems with the boys that she's dating. With all this going on, it is interesting to see if their friendship lasts.

Many people in the world have problems like the events in this book such as their parents divorcing, moving away, long distance friendships or they just don't feel like they fit in this world. In a way, this book makes you feel better, sometimes knowing that there are people out there that are having worse problems than you. This book sends you the message that whatever happens, you can pull through and survive.

I would recommend this book to a girl who likes to read letters, write them, or had a friend who moved away. I think that you should read this book yourself, to find out if they keep their friendship alive!

5.0 out of 5 stars Dear......., June 10, 2003
A Kid's Review
P.S. Longer Letter Later is a great book for young teenage girls who like reading about life and its problems with friendship. The book is about two girls named Elizabeth and Tara*Starr, both best friends. One Day Tara*Starr moves away and the only way to communicate is to write latters to each other. Soon after that they learn how hard it is to have a long distance friendship. My favorite thing that the author did in this book was the way she writes the letters. They sound as if you're write there listening to them read their letters with such expression. The letters are so expressive because Paula Danziger wrote it with her best friend Ann M. Martin. If girls are having trouble with friendship, they should read this book beacause it teaches girls how to handle situations having to do with friendship.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, May 28, 2003

This book was very good. It most commonly would appeal to teens. I enjoyed this book and read it very quickly. I was so interested to see what would happen next. I especially enjoyed this book because I could somewhat relate. One of my close friends moved away and we kept in touch to some extent. My parents also seperated and I know how much of a strain that can be on the children involved. I'm sure that this book could relate to others who may have experienced something similar to these two girls' experiences. I would definitely recommend this book to any young girl who enjoys reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Was A Fantastic Book !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, April 1, 2003
By
Amanda (Granville, OH USA) - See all my reviews
P.S. Longer Letter Later by Paula Danziger and Ann M. Martin is a wonderful book. This book is about two girls in the seventh grade, Elizabeth and Tara*Starr. This book is told by letters to and from each other. In the book Tara*Starr and Elizabeth are best friends untill Tara*Starr has to maove to Ohio.when Tara*Starr moves Elizabeth gets very upset with her but she soon starts to reilize that it was not Tara*Starr's fault she had to move.
In this story the two girls go through many problems. Elizabeth and Tara*Starr have to solve these problems through there letters that they write because to call a long distance call was to much money.
In the beginning of the book everything was calm and everyone was doing fine cooperating. Tara*Starr was moved and made knew friends and new enemys in Ohio. Elizabeth was also doing okay without Tara*Starr. Elizabeth did not make any knew friends friends when Tara*Starr moved untill after New Years. Instead she spent her time babbysitting
her little sister. In the middle of the book things started to heat up again. Elizabeth's dad lost his job but he didnt tell Elizabeth. Her dad started staying home and being lazy. Her dad also started to drink alchol a lot more than usual. Elizabeth's mom did not have a job because her husband ( Elizabeth's dad ) felt that he made enough money and that she should stay home with the girls. Since she couldnt work Elizabeth volentered her time at a place called Kates Kitchen.
Tara*Starr's family was still doing good in Ohio. Tara*Starr's parents were only seventeen years older than her. Tara*Starr called her parents her "Charents." She did this because she says her parents are more chilren than they are adults. They couldn't keep there jobs and they couldn't pay the bills. After they moved that all changed. They got jobs that they could keep and were being responsible. Now that her parents changed Tara*Starr didn't have to do everything herself like cooking and cleaning. Now she could go hang with her friends.
Elizabeth loved to write poems. Tara*Starr laved to tell jokes. To get over her fathers problems Elizabeth joind a poetry club. Her and the other kids made a book for there school full of poems that other kids made. Tara*Starr joined the school news paperand wrote jokes for the joke section.
After everything cooled down at Elizabeth house it wasnt long befor it heated back up again. Her parents couldn't pay for bills. About a week later Christmas came. Emma, her little sister and her got everything they wanted. Elizabeth and her mom sat down and had a little talk about what was happening. Her mom told her that they couldn't afford to pay for theie house so they would have to move.
In the meantime Tara Starr's family wasn't getting along. Tara Starr's mom was pregnant. Tara Starr wanted to be an only child. Tara Starr called the baby (who was not born) the demon child.
The day that Elizabeth and her family were moving came. The moving truck was packed and Elizabeth and Emma were in the car ready to go. There mom and dad came out of the house and Elizabeth's dad didn't come with them. Elizabeth's dad left for good. At the end of the book, Elizabeth gets to go and see Tara Starr in Ohio. This was a wonderful book.
