This lightweight graphic novel, the first in the Totally Spies series, features teen girl spies Clover, Sam, and Alex, who work for the World Organization of Human Protection (WOOHP). In the first episode, "Danger in Paradise," the girls take a road trip. A car accident strands them near a town called Ocean Palisades, a place that looks as though it never left the 1980s and seems much too perfect. The girls soon find out the town really is too good to be true. In "Futureshock," the girls accidentally teleport themselves into the future, and discover a classmate who has taken over the media. Based on the Cartoon Network's animated series of the same name, the book maintains the show's art style, though the pictures aren't as static as screen captures. Larger children's collections looking for light entertainment for their younger readers may want this; it's fluffy and shallow, but fun. Kat Kan

Entertaining,

I am an 8 yr old girl. I found this book exciting and it had a lot of humor in it. I would recommend this book for people who like adventure, surprises, and comic books. When I was an emerging reader my Mom bought lots of graphic novels for me, and they really helped me learn. Now I love to read.
