Bought this to assess the cost of running a basement dehumidier. Plug it in, X hours later push the button to toggle between hours run and kWH used... and VOILA there is your usage. Many other functions, instantaneous watt ratings also. Using instantaneous I was able to see how much my dehumd was using when the fan was running (only_) or the drying unit running. I was able to measure how much electricity and cost per pint of water removed by my 70 pint per day Frigidaire Dehumid (see my review). FYI, it uses approx 63 watts on fan (on part of the time when the dehumid function not on) and 675 watts as rated when taking out water. At my $.15 per kwh in Georgia, it is costing me $42 per month to keep a 1200 SF block and poured concrete basement.... 50% below grade... at 55% relative humidity. Plan to use it for other products.

The Kill a Watt meter is a great way to save money. Checked all outlets with things pluged into them and realized I was wasting a lot of money by not turning off some items left on over night or when I go away. Great buy for the money.

I bought this meter to check how much electricity different devices use.
Specifically, different servers at work ... you'd be _amazed_ at the difference between different brands of servers! Also, at home, I test various appliances, etc.; and I watch the line voltage dip on those hot afternoons when everyone in the neighborhood is running the A/C.
