After 30 days, [money] wasted with zero results,
By Disappointed and feeling foolish (Willamette Valley, OR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: P3 International P7906 Vibrasonic Mole Chaser (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased two of these, inserted new batteries, and placed them into the ground--with no obstructions within 100 feet or so--as instructed. Every couple of days, I have verified that they are still emitting the sound. Our soil is moist clay. Before, we had moderate mole activity (four or five fresh mounds per week). Throughout the four weeks after installation, we have continued to have moderate mole activity (four or five fresh mounds per week). The mounds were within a few feet of where I installed the products; the mounds are still occuring within a few feet (less than 10) of where I installed the products. My conclusion after four weeks is that I wasted [money]. I have seen absolutely zero effect on mole activity--they don't seem to give a rip about these being close by. I would have rated the product with zero stars but the system would not accept that so I entered one star.

Tested over a period of three seasons,

I bought two of these and figured I'd test them for awhile before I made a judgement. The gophers and moles have laughed over Winter, Spring and the beginning of summer in Santa Barbara, California. These devices sounded like a good idea, the advert made sense, but they were a complete waste... :(

I had two of these and the moles dug up all around them. It does not work and may even attract them.

Works Great!,
By ... until I bought one of these. Now, the only time I see a mole is when the batteries run down ... seem to last about 2 months -- so if I can have the self discipline to change the batteries every 6 weeks or so, I am clear. I have been using these for at least 5 years. The 'suitability' considerations are: 1) They work better in denser, semi-moist soils than dry, light soils (better sound transmission). Dry sand is not so good -- but then again, moles may not be so common in dry sandy soil either. Pockets of dry sand in your yard can block trensmission across the sand pocket. 2) The unit needs to be in FULL contact with the earth; it cannot be loose in its hole (pack earth around it and water-in if necessary) 3) Large obstructions such as concrete footings, septic tanks, driveways, large planters, ponds, possible large trees, etc will block or attenuate the sound transmission, so strategic locations are important on both sides of the obstruction. 4) The occasional stalwart mole may try a couple nights in a row to see if it is goes away, or can be defeated. I have never had any stick around (unless the batteries run down)

In my application this product worked exactly as advertised. My subsurface is clay, and I was careful to insert the item so that it had firm contact with the surrounding soil. My mole infestation, which had persisted through the use of poisons, mechanical "traps", castor oil sprays, grub treatments, chewing gum, and whatever else I could think of, disappeared within 6 weeks and never came back.
I'm submitting this product review because this is one of the simplest, most effective items I've ever stumbled across. I went online to purchase another one (for the back yard), saw the negative reviews, and had to submit an opposing opinion.

It works - and it's easy to use,

I've had two of these in my yard for the last three years and the moles have vanished. The housing is a strong, hollow, metal tube with a plastic screw on cap. The vibrator takes four D batteries and slips into the the tube. You pound the tube into the ground, insert the vibrator, and screw on the cap. Every 30 seconds or so, the vibrater makes a rattling noise that must carry pretty well underground. (You can barely hear it above ground.) If the ground freezes in the winter, take out the vibrator at the first frost and keep it indoors until spring -- condensation in the tube can affect the vibrators electronic circuitry. Replace the batteries each season.

It works!!!,
I used these reviews prior to getting the mole chaser and, because they were mixed, I was a little skepticle. For the first time in many years, moles had moved into our front yard in droves. This may have been as a result of installing all new landscaping in front of our house in the spring(new shrubs, perrenial flowers, etc). We had to do something because the front lawn was in great shape and once the moles moved in there was tunnerling throughout the yard and into the flower beds. I purchased two of the higher powered mole chaser models and put one about 20' away from the house and another one about 50' further up the front walkway. I have to say that within days the new tunneling disappeared and they were not seen for the rest of the summer or fall. I've just removed them after about 5 months of use because the grounds beginning to freeze(Connecticut). The batteries were still find and I'll surely be putting them back next spring. I did notice however that my neighbor, who is gone to a second home for the summer, got a lot of tunneling over the summer and I suspect our moles may have relocated there. Also, there was lots of tunneling in our back yard. I'm guessing that the moles relocated nearby and that would probably be the case for most people installing these. But, at least they did keep them away from the front yard and flower beds which, in my case, was the reason for installing them. For your information, my soil is relatively loose dark good soil and is not very dense. At least not the first couple of feet. So my opinion is that the mole chasers worked and I'm very happy with the result. I hope this reviews helps.

Sonic Mole Chasers DO Chase Moles,

The Sonic Mole Chaser REALLY DOES WORK but you have to follow the directions. You can't just buy one and think that will do it. The number needed will depend upon the size, composition and configuration of your lot. I have 1/2 acre lot that is heavily wooded and I have be plagued by moles for the last 20 years. I have tried everything else---commercial products: spring-loaded mole traps, mole bait, smoke bombs etc. and home remedies: Juicy Fruit gum and toy windmills. Nothing worked. Then I tried 6 mole chasers and I have not seen a mole in 5 years.

Wow. Enough words cannot express how well this product works. I had a festering mole problem in my back yard. When i purchased a few the Vibrasonic and implanted them in my yard. It seems as though I've driven the moles onto my neighbor's yard. Excellent. And once the moles were gone, the Vibrasonic still have high utillity. I've used the Vibrasonic on myself and exprienced amazing, knee shaking orgasms. I would recommend this product to any one even if you don't have a mole problem...
