I liked that little red robo vac. I've had too of those zoombas and two Roombas.Anyway, to qualify what I said about Zoomba (and this P3)...no matter what anybody says--this robot is not for carpets of any depth--they are strictly for hard, smooth, slick, surfaces/ hardwood, linolium, congolium (all those mispelled oliums).......and that's why I got this. I already know what it will and won't do. It won't do carpets. --but-- It 'is' a dustbuster on wheels and will vacuum non carpeted floors just fine. Unlike everybody else, I take that dust cloth and dip it in water--spray a little lysol on it--stick it back to bottom of the robot and let it 'lightly' dampmop and lightly sanitize my floors. All in all, I remember those nicad batteries dying after about six months..I'd suggest tenergy type C cells--they last three to five years (cost more to). That's why I'm here to day...looking for replacement battery packs for this P3 and my zoomba (they are identical I think). I am a tech--if I can't find the lower cost nicad battery pack, I'll make one from my tenergy's Anyway, I feel this unit is about fourty bucks too much. My first cost me a hundred dollars, my last cost me fourty seven. Fourty seven is about right--but only if you can find the replacement battery packs. Not everbody knows how to make a battery pack. Finally, as I remember it, one of my zoombas fell down the stair once and I restarted it--it worked fine. I suspect this one is pretty much the same...................SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo....if you got hard smooth slick surface type floors, go ahead....if you got carpet--get a roomba from Irobot.

I have a small apartment. When i get this vacuum, i am so surprise that a little vacuum can pick a lot of dust and even the hair. I recommend to other people to have this vacuum if you like a small, simple, light and have allergic of dust, take this. works for carpet and floor.

This vacuum is awesome! If I charge it through the night and run it in the am, I don't need to empty out the small bin that collects dirt, hair(even min which is 2 ft. long!), it even picked up some wet spinach off the floor(small pieces, but unexpected, especially from the reviews I've read.)! It picks up more than my big vacuum can get to. It is rather large, same size of the base of a normal vacuum, maybe bigger in some cases. Still, it fits under cabinets, dishwasher and half way under my tv stand which is bending, so I can't blame the machine. It seems to clean very random, but does get everywhere! It only runs for about an hour(which is short since it runs over the same areas numerous times bouncing around. I usually block off one or 2 rooms and run it for 15-20 minutes before switching to other rooms. It seems to ensure it cleans the entire house, save for bathrooms before the batteries need recharging. It has many functions and runs random, circling, does around edges of rooms. Works great on my tile, linoleum, and even my 1 inch carpet(which I thought would be too shaggy from people's complaints). It did excellent on the carpet and was nice to not have to move the crib this time. I just throw any baby toys not fitting into shelves in the crib while it vacuums, it helps get everywhere quicker, as the battery slows when it is in the random setting(it rotates setting automatically)...though it would still vacuum around objects eventually, but it will kill the battery so much faster, just pick up your shoes or small toys. It also has a sleeve on the bottom for putting dust clothes on. Some people wet them or spray cleaners on the clothes first, so it swiffer mops their hardwood floors. Good, since I tried ordering a real mopping machine and it turned out to be this without the vacuum, so a swiffer. It's a nice addition, you could probably vacuum and swiffer mop simultaneously, but I'm not a teenager so I'll actually mop or scrub the floor. I suppose it would be helpful on the days you don't mop, to keep it tidy. You can buy the controller for it and docking station, I hear it works great when it works, but often the joy stick can't override the automatic vacuuming. Also it dies often before finding it's way to the docking station, so having an automatic recharger is useless if this is true. Many people have said this. I wish it had that function and the ability to set it up to go on it's own and recharge itself at certain times on certain days, but I'll wait until there is an improvement in such functions. For now, this machine helps me when I am cooking or running out with children. It does turn itself off if it gets stuck, like under my busted Ikea furniture, which saves the battery. However, it does not turn off when picked up as this company claims it does as a safety feature! So it could hurt small children I suppose. I watch my toddler chase it around, so I just would not leave animals around it you can't trust or young children that should be being supervised anyway. Hope this helps you decide if this is the right model for you. Also, I am told it is slower than the expensive Roomba, but not much and gives the same results. Why people would buy both, idk, maybe to charge two and clean a big house at once. Also, don't buy the invisible walls as you can just put a small object, like a shoe in the middle of the doorway and it turns around after bumping it slightly. It claims to not go off of stairs either, but I have none to test that out. Since it doesn't actually turn off when lifted, I would stand on the step or 2 beneath it when finding out if it's true.

I liked the idea of a robotic vacuum, and I liked it when it worked. But it only worked ONCE. Then it lost the ability to go forward, started backing up without hitting a wall, and did a little shimmy in the same 6 inches of space on the hardwood floor for 5 minutes before I turned it off. That spot was really clean, but the rest of the room was not. I returned it immediately. Would love any suggestions on an inexpensive (<$100) robotic vacuum that works!
