5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding, a delight
Potential customer-
I purchased this "elsewhere" and paid about 15 dollars more. I have been a system builder and enthusiast for about 15 years. I was blown away by this boards features and quality. It even has a Linux splash screen to allow you to access basic devices (email, skype, etc)so you do not have to boot up all components. I am coming from an XFX 680i LT...

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware of quality issues with this board
I had to return the first one I purchased because it would not recognize the A1 RAM slot. I tried switching the RAM modules around and also tried another brand of RAM; same issue. I also tried tweaking the BIOS; no luck. The replacement board is working fine so far.

This is a quality control issue with this board....look this model up under the subject line...

4.0 out of 5 stars No floppy cable included, otherwise very satisfied, August 13, 2009
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As others have noted this is a quality board. As a several time Asus user, I expect that, but this board is a step above. Chipset heat sink (with fan you can apply if you are setting it up the right way), connectors (SATA, etc) that are in the right spaces for case usage, etc. A few quibbles 1) as I note there is no floppy cable included (even though the board has a floppy connection), 2) (not sure this is Asus' fault, but...) why is there so little space between the PCI connectors for these double slot vid cards? I've got a EVGA 285 that is hogging two slots but is only connected to one. If I had it set up in SLI, I'd only have *1* PCI slot left over. I guess the price you pay for the cool heat sinks around the board.

Still very satisfied with the purchase.

Update 9/9 - wanted to add that I got everything fully functional and for once even the powering down stuff works as it should. A couple of other nits - 1)it is either RAID or straight SATA. This is noted in the forum boards and what not, but is a bit of a pain; and 2) the e-SATA isn't hot plug.

Still very satisfied with the purchase. Runs well you can tweak the heck out of it and it has all the right connections.

I am coming from an XFX 680i LT and quad Q6600 to this board and a i7 920 and all I can say is WOW nice and full of bells and whistles. Speed improvement in Crysis is about 15 fps with the same single 8800GTX. My kills went up the day I got this board, what more can I say? ENJOY!

The specs list 2 SAS ports, which was true of the P6T Deluxe, but the SAS controller is been removed in V2.

This review is from: ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 Desktop Board - Intel X58 Express - Enhanced SpeedStep Technology - Socket B - 6.40 GT/s - 24 GB - DDR3 SDRAM - DDR3-1333/PC3-10600, DDR3-1066/PC3-8500 - SLI, CrossFireX - ATX (Accessory)
1st of all the packaging is second to none. The manual was very clear and concise and I have to believe that this is the best product I have ever purchased, as far as MOBO's are concerned. ASUS has delivered an incredible product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love This Mother Board!, September 24, 2009

The Mother Board, processor, DDR3, and 64 bit OS all work perfectly! A lot of research went into planning this PC and it all came together much better than expected. Cool as a cucumber and fast as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Come for the speed, stay for the tech support., October 29, 2009
I actually don't own this board. I own another ASUS board. But this is relevant.

ASUS tech support is ASTOUNDING. The best I have ever used by far. Right off the bat: they don't try and hide tech support phone numbers like SOME companies. No going online and all that (that's always bothered me-- if I need tech support chances are I CAN'T GET ONLINE!) It's on the first page of my manual, right there. They answer quickly-- I've never held for more then 3-5 minutes-- and when they do, oh boy. They hire people with real, serious tech training. They listen carefully and know problem causes by heart-- they're not using an automated troubleshooting system. They suggest a solution and then wait on the line while you try it, so you don't have to go to the trouble of calling back. They don't retreat after 2 minutes to telling you that come component X is no good and you need a new one, like so many tech lines. I've been using the same MOBO (A Striker Extreme) for three years, and their support is to thank for that. Additionally, they can help the tech-unsavvy and the tech-savvy in different ways. I'm pretty in-tuned, and when the tech I spoke to realized this he told me to grab a multi-meter and start poking around, which prevented us from having to test hunches in indirect ways, saving a lot of time.

I'm posting here (and on a few other asus board reviews) because I want people to know how awesome their support is and buy their stuff for that reason. I want the top guys at ASUS to see that this business model (spend more on keeping customers happy, make more on repeat sales) can succeed in a market where it is so rare. We need to show corporations that we respond well to being treated well, and maybe one day amazing tech support will be the standard.

I'm serious: I will never own a main-board other than an ASUS as long as they keep this level of customer respect.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent!, March 13, 2010

I am a 1st time overclocker and this mobo has made it easy! I am running an i7-920 @ 3.5 ghz rock solid for more than a year on this mobo. You can't go wrong with this, my compliments to ASUS for the best mobo I have ever owned. And I have had quite a few, but this is my 1st ASUS.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware of quality issues with this board, January 7, 2010

I had to return the first one I purchased because it would not recognize the A1 RAM slot. I tried switching the RAM modules around and also tried another brand of RAM; same issue. I also tried tweaking the BIOS; no luck. The replacement board is working fine so far.

This is a quality control issue with this board....look this model up under the subject line within the Asus forum on their website and you'll see that failure to recognize RAM installed on the board is a problem that many buyers have experienced. Hopefully my replacement board will continue to work, but after the problem with the first one I'm worried and wish I had gone with another brand. I had to unhook everything, including un-installing and cleaning the CPU/CPU cooler, to return it. Of course, then I had to put everything back together again with the replacement....what a pain.

I have a friend that ordered the Asus Rampage and it worked fine, so if you want to go with Asus I would try that model or another one and shy away from the P6T Deluxe V2. It's just not worth the gamble that you might end up with one of the defective boards.

I contacted Asus via email regarding the problem with the first (defective) one and got a copy/paste, stock answer, telling me "Typically memory issues are cause by either bad RAM or the motherboard not auto-detecting the correct memory timmings. Sometimes manually setting the CAS Latency timmings will correct the issue."

Don't believe it; this was/is an Asus manufacturing issue that they need to correct. The exact same setup on the second board worked fine. I only wish I had read the comments on this model in the Asus forum before I made my purchasing decision. I am writing this review so maybe you'll be more fortunate.

I have used Asus MB's for the last four systems I've built. As usual, Asus has once again produced an excellent product. Well made, nicely laid out and many USB and Sata connections. Asus is normally a bit pricey but I don't believe you can beat the Asus quality. Amazon had the best price at the time of purchase and the 2 day shipping is always a nice bonus.

3.0 out of 5 stars Bugged MOBO, October 9, 2009

After a bit of research, all the reviews on this board indicated it was great and just the thing for me. Board was very easy to install, however, when I powered up, nothing happened. An ASUS technician told me the board's BIOS was incompatible with the CPU (Intel Core I-7, 920#. Replaced the board and powered up only to find the SATA ports were defective #would not detect any internal drives). EXPRESS GATE is impressive. I plugged two external drives simltaneously into the USB ports and had no problems viewing/editing photos. It was so impressive that I intend to try a third board. Amazon responded within minutes when I informed them and replaced the board a week before promised.
