Occationallly need to unplug and reinsert the adapter to make it work, which is a major annoyance. Otherwise the sound is OK. I have a Sony CDX-MP40.

Although I am pretty satisfied with the performance I got from my old Sony MDX-CA680X Minidisc player I always wished to connect to it several other different external audio sources. After researching for several years for a reasonable affordable solution, this "PAC Sony Unilink adapter Aux input turn on" definitively worked out and full filled all my expectations! This has bring new life to my good old player.

This device only sort of worked for me. Sometimes it would work fine, but on occasion it would freeze up the stereo head unit, which would require pulling the stereo out, disconnecting power, removing this dongle, powering it up, then turning it off again and reconnect the dongle. Then it would work again... for awhile...It also disables the built-in CD player, and when somebody not knowing any better would stick a CD in, not only would it not play, but there was no way to eject the CD without going through the above procedure. It's possible my problems were limited to the particular Sony head unit I had, but I'm not sure. I replaced the head with a Clarion unit that has external input as well as a USB port. This adapter went in the trash...

This product is a great way to save a few bucks over an iPod-compatible stereo, and the sound quality is way better and more reliable than using an FM transmitter. You don't get to use your stereo to control the iPod, but to me this is a pro rather than a con: I can use the menus on my iPod and just rely on the stereo for volume, etc. Think of it as plugging your iPod into a set of speakers or headphones vs. synching it with a computer and iTunes. One major problem for me: my Sony XPlod Stereo had the Unilink jack for the CD changer in a bit of a recess on the back of the stereo. This particular adapter has a good deal of plastic molding, and the connection is made at a 90 degree angle to the rest of the cable. Because of the way my stereo was shaped, it was next to impossible to get a good, flush fit. I finally 'jammed' it in and got it to operate correctly. I recommend checking the back of your stereo to see what kind of area surrounds the female unilink jack, and if this would be a problem for you.

This product caused my Sony MEX-BT5000 CD receiver with Bluetooth to continuously reboot. Not worth it! If I could pick 0 stars I would!
