This item was very useful for my science fair project. It takes some patience to see visible bacteria though. I would not recommend this for children under 8.

After ruining 3 petri dishes for a home lab experiment (agar solution didn't set, washed them out, boiled them to sterilise, left them to boil too long and the plastic dishes shriveled up!) I quickly scanned online for the best place to get some more. Pac Sci turned out to be the closest. They arrived reasonably quick and I was relieved to see detailed instructions on setting the agar. Lab experiment saved!! Thank you, Pac Sci!!

I was very happy with the product and I was able to use it for its purpose. However one of the items that was sent to me was cracked and since I was short on time I was not able to return. I was very disappointed that one of the dishes was cracked but overall I made it work.

These dishes are made of non-autoclavable material. I failed to notice that, and they melted quickly. I question their original sterility, because the shrink-wrapping they were in wasn't fully enclosing the dishes. All in all, these dishes might make a fun toy or middle-school educational tool, but they are not reusable, not autoclavable, and most likely not sterile to begin with.

I purchased these petri dishes and nutrient agar to grow mushroom mycelium in. The package was received very quickly (ordered and within 36 hours got the item; amazon prime shipping), but the item was not what I expected. Although the petri dishes are durable, they don't fit together well at all! They have enormous amounts of space in between the lid and bottom which is less than ideal when you are using them for a project requiring sterile conditions because it is very easy for air contamination to occur. Other than this issue the petri dishes were fine and if I were purchasing this item for a little kid then it would have sufficed. Good product for kids, not so much for the serious scientist. Hey, I guess thats what I get for ordering an item that appeared as a kids set anyway...
