A review from an experienced Treo user!,
By Aaron Lacey "Real Estate Land Specialist" (Arizona, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Palm 3206WW Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I am a real estate agent who uses his Treo 650 throughout the day (and night). I found it necessary to buy an ear piece that would allow me the freedom to perform tasks while on the phone, and not look like a Trekkie in front of my clients.
The PalmOne Wireless Headset allows me this freedom. It provides great range, though I usually carry my Treo 650 on my hip in my Seidio Shield Holster (great by the way) or in my pocket. Occasionally I'll set it down and walk away from it while on a call using my headset and if the path is unobstructed between the phone and headset, I get 40+ feet of clear reception. Keep in mind that you'll need to keep both your headset and Treo on the same side of your body while in use for increased clarity (ie. your treo in your right pocket while your headset on your right ear). If you don't, you'll hear static. The Good: Useful & Clear (Good technology) 1) Range seems more than sufficient for my needs. 2) Has a sleek appearance that doesn't look bulky like other BlueTooth ear pieces. 2) It connects quickly and consistently to my Treo 650 for answering calls. 3) The volume is more than adequate; I have yet to turn the volume to max on both the headset and the Treo. 4) Clarity is good enough for 90% of my calls. The Bad: Awkward & Heavy 1) I find myself having to re-center it on my ear every now and then because of the heavy weight causing it to droop or rotate. 2) If I leave it on my ear for long enough it will start to hurt the outside of my ear because of it's awkward fit and weight. 3) Occasionally it won't pick up my calls right away and I'll have to manually press the connect button on the headset to get it to connect. 4) When using the function button on the earpiece, my finger covers the status light (variety of light blinks are important for all functions of earpiece). This is just annoying. 5) Clarity is an issue on 10% of my calls where either both users are on a headset or the connection seems bad. This problem will most likely force one user to switch to using their phone directly. In Conclusion: I gave this a 4 out of 5 because I find it very useful for my day to day use even though it gets annoying at times. I'd recommend this to anyone wanting the freedom of a wireless headset and who doesn't want to wait for the next lighter version to come out (if ever).

Not the best headset,
This review is from: Palm 3206WW Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I love bluetooth, but am looking for a better headset.
The most annoying feature is the one button for every thing. I'll put it in my bag, and if it gets bumped, it redials the last person I called-without my knowing it. I've had several people say I called them and they could hear me talking in the background. If I turn it off, it takes too long to turn it on when a call comes in. It also seems to take a while to answer a call and at times, doesn't.

I have had this headset for 5 days now and have the following problems:
1. The position on my ear is awkward. It flops around and will actually fly off my ear if I turn my head too quickly. 2. The speaker does not line up in front of my eardrum unless I rotate the unit with the mic facing almost upward. 3. Volume is marginal - OK for quiet locations but not for stores, airports, etc. 4. People on the other end report a slight echo. As soon as I deactivate the headset, the echo goes away. 5. I hear a clicking whenever I use it, no matter how close the piece is to my 650. On the positive side, it uses the same charger as the phone. Ummmm... that's about it. I really don't want to return this (what a pain!), but I probably will. Just too many problems. I don't understand why some of these problems are reported by some users and not others... maybe because it has something to do with the underlying service? I have a Cingular Treo 650.

First, the problems...,

Problems:
1- fit: I wouldn't run with it on; its not that secure. Also, it could use more adjustability; its tricky to get the speaker in front of your ear canal. 2- doesn't support voice dialing: this is a Treo shortcoming; their Bluetooth function doesn't support it Good things: 1- Volume is fine; I just used it on a busy street with motorcycles, etc. The speaker sits outside your ear and if it isn't in the right spot you lose volume (see "fit" above). 2- once you learn the one-button function layout the controls are great 3- reception and connection to the Treo650 are fine 4- no complaints regarding mic or noise reduction quality

I had originally purchased the new Blue Tooth Jabra with the LCD screen on it to use with my Treo Phone. That worked great, but it was to heavy and to big to fit around my ear. I am a small person and it didn't fit properly when I put it on and adjusted it and after less than a minute it started to weigh my ear down. After some studying on different headsets I chose the Palm headset. I love this headset so much better and have no problems with it. It fits my ear a lot better and it isn't heavy at all. I can wear it for hours on my ear and forget it is even on. Thier is one button to turn it on, off, answer and hang up. It makes it a lot simplier to use. When I used the Jabra I kept hanging up on people when I wanted to answer it. Plus the connect time is almost instant. With the Jabra it took a few seconds for it to wake up and answer the phone. People would hang up by the time it connected thinking I didn't answer! I have read complaints about the Palm headset being hard to hear in noisy places. But so far the noisy places I have been in everyone has heard me just fine.
1)I love the how small this headset is for me and it works better for my husband also who is bigger than me and said the Jabra had fitted him fine. After trying mine he sold his on e-bay and purchased this one. 2.) The price is almost 3x cheaper than the Jabra headset! I paid about $160- with tax for the Jabra and I paid $60 for this one! 3.) For a small comfortable headset that won't break your budget this is the one to get!

Ok,
This review is from: Palm 3206WW Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is my first bluetooth wireless headset purchase. I saw the other reviews on this website and thought that I would give the product a try. I've had it for a week now, and would say it's just ok. Static occurs probably 75% of the time, however the static is bearable, but still annoying. The one button does make answering calls difficult. I had to practice calling myself several times to figure it out. Let's just say I hung up on accident more than once. The product is not bad if you have a TREO 650, having another charger is a major plus. So i figure at $60, I'm getting a $30 wireless headset and a $30 travel charger. I can live with that.
The good: Cheap Easy to figure out Same charger as Treo 650 good for first time bluetooth user. The bad: Static on occasion (not clear 100% of the time) Must learn how to answer calls I don't like the redial function, wish I could disable. Not good for veteran bluetooth user.

palmone 2306 Wireless Headset for Treo 650,
By
This review is from: Palm 3206WW Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I read all of the reviews on the various Bluetooth headsets that were tested with the Treo 650 and the palm one device seemed to be the best fit so I bought it. Overall it works pretty good. The talk time and standby times are amazing and if you do need to charge it on a trip it uses the same charger as the Treo 650 which is nice.
The best feature is that you never have to touch it after you turn it on and place it on your ear. You can silence the Treo and when you receive a call you hear a gentle ringing through the headset. You can then answer the call through the phone and disconnect without ever touching the headset. This is MUCH easier than the Jabra 250 which I had previously. The only reral complaint is the loose fit. You really have to watch how fast you turn your head or it will flop. The volume could be a tad higher also. All in all a good device to use with the Treo 650.

Before buying this headset, I tried 3 Motorola headsets and neither of them worked very well with my 650. The functionality wasn't there. Now all the functins and features are there and it works great!! Should have bought this the first time around. I would have saved myself a lot of frustration.

I'm blown away in reading some of the reveiws here. Make sure you have the latest firmware/os on your Treo (Palm OS Garnet v.5.4.7). Also, under Treo Preferences, set your Handsfree setting to Auto answer after 2 rings. I prefer the 2 rings as oppose to immediately so I can see who is calling first. I haven't had any issues that is being described here. I had purchased a Motorola 820 prior and had a horrible experience. The Treo Bluetooth headset works exactly as what the specs said it would. The autolink response time is in real time, as soon as the treo phone makes a connection it immediately transfers to the headset as if it was on the headset the whole time. It supports all the call features see below for specs. The sound is clear and crisp and on the receiving end, they couldn't tell that I was using a headset. I know it sounds to good but it is definitely one of the best products I have ever bought that actually works the way it should. I've been using it for a week and have not had any problems. It also fits very comfortable that I forgot that I've had it on all day at work. I think the longest I've had it on was for 6 hours straight. Another reason why I chose the unit is that the charger uses the same plug as the phone. So if you have a car charger for your treo phone then it also can charge the headset and the wall charger it comes with can be used for work or home. Thank you Treo for creating great products. I love my Treo 650 and now with the headset I love it more. Great job.
SPECS: Battery Life Talk time: 7 hrs Standby time: 7 days Charging time: 2 hrs Call Features Auto-link: Yes Ringtone: Yes Redial: Yes Call Reject: Yes Call Waiting: Yes Included Wall charger. FYI. DON'T BUY MOTOROLA 820 for TREO 650 (Unless it works better on a MOTOROLA phones) The Motorola 820 always felt like it was going to fall off my ear, the speaker sound was weak and had static. On the receiving end had complaints that they could not hear me and it was very faint. It also did not work like a true bluetooth headset on the TREO 650. It did not answer the call based on the treo setting. It did not support Auto-link (I had to press the multi-button to answer calls). It did not support Ringtone (When the TREO would ring, there was no sound on the headset). It did not support Redial, call Reject, or Call waiting. It was pretty much useless.

Good features; poor signal quality.,
By
This review is from: Palm 3206WW Bluetooth Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I received the headset on Thursday and returned it to Amazon on Friday. The features it offers such as being able to mute the call or switch to another incoming call and put the first caller on hold are convenient, but the signal quality is terrible. The only time there wasn't any interference was when I held my Treo 650 two inches from the headset, so I might as well have just used the Treo without the headset.
I tried calling several people, and they all stated that I was breaking up. I also missed out on parts of their conversations because of the interference. I have a Motorola HS820, which I changed out with the Treo headset on the same call to test the signal quality. The HS820's signal was much better, it just wasn't as loud as the Treo headset, which is why I bought the Treo headset. I ended up finishing the conversations on the phone itself. |
