Figured I would get what I was paying for.

New lamp is much dimmer and it's hard to get it adjusted so you see everything on the screen.

Figured I would get what I was paying for. Made a rational decision to buy a cheap knock off and I was ok with the prospect of getting only 1000 or so hours out of it in economy mode. Great shipping, and knew what I was purchasing. No dishonesty from the sellers' perspective. HOWEVER, after a single night of watching soccer, I started up the projector to let my son's play Xbox, and immediately as I turned it on something shorted out and the projector began smoking. I'm a communications engineer, so I know once you let the genie out of the bottle, you can't put it back in. But I caught it just in time that all it did was burn through the cheap voltage and ground connections going from the chassis to the bulb. I'm returning this item and pitching for the non-generic from now on. Almost put 2000 down the tube to save 50 bucks on a bulb. Contacted Amazon and let them know that I was not going to be able to salvage the bulb, that I would have to cut it out of the projector or risk damaging it. They understood and submitted an RMA explaining what happened. Now I have to contact Panasonic to get a replacement power adapter for the projector where it connects to the bulb due to that being burnt through. But at least I know the projector still works. If you want to run the risk of doing something similar, proceed to buy. But you can't say you haven't been warned. Below are pictures of what I'm referring to.

Buy authorized OEM equipment (not through Amazon!). This bulb burned up the socket in my projector. I was refunded the purchase price but now have a burned up projector. Amazon is perfectly happy just refunding the purchase price and not accepting responsibility for the damage their inferior products do to the customers equipment. Thank god my house did not burn down while my son was playing Playstation under the projector when he smelled smoke and came and got me!

Non-OEM bulbs are terrible. I've tried one, returned it, and then bought another non-OEM by misrepresentation and it was incredibly dim as well. I was not able to return it and ended up spending more in the end than if I'd just purchased a genuine Panny bulb. I've found non-OEM printer ink and various other items to be just as good as OEM, but with these bulbs, you may as well throw away your very high quality projector and buy a cheep one if you cant spring for an OEM bulb. It reduces the overall quality of the projector, even under total black-out settings, to the quality of a $400 720P unit. It is that bad.

My last OEM bulb lasted over 5000 hours and was still going when I ordered a replacement... the non-oem bulbs were DIMMER than the OEM at 5000 hours (2.5 times estimated life) .

In this case, OEM is the only way to go.

The lamp was low brightness. It was immediately replaced by the original lamp, which was satisfactory until a good replacement lamp could be found..

Fast shipping but the replacement lamp only lasted apporximately 80 hours before malfunction. Would not recommend.
