Accurate take on the concert experience of Panic! At The Disco,
By
This review is from: PANIC! AT THE DISCO Collectors Box (Audio CD)
I went to see them in Myrtle Beach at the House of Blues before this was filmed. My family loved it, as did my sister in law and her son. This DVD is an accurate film, and while not up to the level of Talking Heads or The Last Waltz is actually done well rather well and is interesting to watch.
Panic! At The Disco are trying to bring back a little theatre/spectacle to the concert experience and that is captured well on this DVD. I have been to many concerts through the years. While some are nothing more then music playing, some like when I saw ELO on the flying saucer tour (1978, yes I'm old) were really a good time. Bruce Springsteen, who I have seen 4 times is truly great, but is not what you think of as theatre. His Born in the USA tour, outstanding, but not a theatrical experience. The smallish club setting lends itself to this kind of theatre of the absurd very well. It fits the style of music that P!ATD plays and was very enjoyable. The only difference is the extra song Karma Police cover of the Radiohead song which they did not do when we saw them. They did do the Smashing Pumpkins song. Having the Lucent Dossier Vaudeville Cirque troupe with them was additionally fun to watch. The set includes a DVD containing a documentary about the band and a live performance -- both filmed during Panic's July 22 show at the Fillmore Theatre in Denver, and the ephemera includes loads of "early 20th-century burlesque/vaudeville" material, including a cabaret mask, a period-themed newspaper and, most importantly, a phenakistoscope, an animation device that was popular in Belgium and Austria in the late 1800s/early 1900s. Also included are a 140-page blank diary, lyric cards, a poster, band photos, a tour program and the all-important "certificate of authenticity" stating which this set is limited to 25,000 copies worldwide. All this is in a nicely lined hard-sided box. The vaudevillian theme of the package is in keeping with the circus feel of the show we saw. I'm not saying one way or the other that they are going to have staying power. Will anyone know who they are 10 years from now? Who knows? For as young as they are they did put together a great set of songs and the poor review should be taken with a grain of salt. Look at the comments. If you saw them, get this. If you want to see what the fuss is about, get this or at least find someone with it so you can watch the show.

This DVD IS great,
This review is from: PANIC! AT THE DISCO Collectors Box (Audio CD)
This set is really great! Its main feature is the DVD, which is a FULL live performance of their album, including 2 covers (Karma Police - Radiohead and Tonight, Tonight - Smashing Pumpkins). There are excellent live changes made, and great transitions between the songs. A must buy!!!

My mom bought me this a while ago when it first came out and I loved it ever since. I'm a big fan of Panic! At the Disco. It's a great gift! Any fan would never get tired of this gift, it's totally worth the money! And this is a LIMITED EDITION item and they only make 25,000 of these and there are only a few left so hurry and buy it!

I got this set for easter like 2-3 years ago.
I was and still am obsessed with panic at the disco, so my dad splurged and got me this. I was crazy in love with it and essentially was married to it for 3 weeks. I watched the dvd at least twice a day, had the poster and pictures in my room, and had the cd on repeat on my ipod. One day, while cleaning, I set a crate on top of it. Not a huge crate, a small one. I lifted the crate and almost fainted- the box had essentially collapsed. The CD and dvd were ruined. The poster (I had put it back in when I started cleaning) had been ripped. I'm on the hunt for a decently priced one at the moment (the dvd is the best think since sliced bread) but I would never pay such a ridiculous price for it.

Well Worth the Cash,

This item is well worth the money you pay out - it is thought up well, and everything will come into use. The dvd was especially good, with the Circus performers, the intermission show (which I found particularly funny, the live performance, and generally everything. This is one of the only few bands that play well live. Their documentary gave me everyone a detailed look-in at how hard the music industry is. It's an excellent buy. I love how everything is old fashioned.

I bought this after hearing just one of their songs, I figured I'd just buy the box set and I had read really good reviews on it. THey didn't lie!! It's worth the money for the box and contents alone. All of the songs are done on "Tarot" cards with the words printed on the back. There are 4 pics of the band members (who are SOOO hot) done in black and white. There is a journal to write in, CD, DVD and more. It also comes with a certificate of ownership as they're only making 25,000-so hurry because mine was 23,4--something. It's worth it.

Good but not quite,

Let me say that I'm not sad that I bought this box set. Being the poor college student that I am I have never been able to see Panic! in concert, also I go to school no where near a major city. It's a big school, small town complex. I saved for a long time for this set. And I enjoyed parts of it very much.
Mostly I was very disappointed with the "Movie." It was just the concert replayed with 2-3 min interviews between songs. And most of the information was not new for old fans. The concert in itself was great, but expensive for those of us where the pictures and "tarot" lyrics cards only entertain us for around 10mins. And I'm a really big fan, you can tell just by walking into my dorm. It didn't hold my interest. The diehard fans will love this box set. The box in itself is beautiful, I love having it sit on my shelf with my books. But honestly anyone over the age of around 15 will be disappointed by the box's features. I still recommend it to people, but I am just as willing to loan the DVD out to friends so they don't have to buy their own copy.
