5.0 out of 5 stars A little expensive but very bright and white
I don't know what all the reviews talk about below. My experience is nothing like theirs.
I actually wanted a light that wouldn't be overly bright to install on my porch can lights. I would consider these too bight for that application (I'm thinking of putting them on a dimmer) and I would not hesitate to install more in my hard to reach can lights inside my house...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very bright
Silly me . . . I hoped these would replace an incandescent floodlamp! Well, they might, if all you wanted was a mood-setting glow of soft light.
They seem well made, though, and they're doing a marvelous job of sitting on my garage shelf, in hopes that I'll find a use for them someday.

I actually wanted a light that wouldn't be overly bright to install on my porch can lights. I would consider these too bight for that application (I'm thinking of putting them on a dimmer) and I would not hesitate to install more in my hard to reach can lights inside my house if the cost was less. My only complaint is that I wouldn't call these "warm white" - they have NO yellow tinge at all. The color I would put more on par with a fluorescent "white" (not the cool white). They have a wide beam angle as advertised (although the spread is not perfect, seems brighter in the middle and outskirts than it does in between). I had to buy socket extensions to make them fit in my can lights, which increased the total install price by another $5 a bulb :-/ The last "complaint" I have is that they are not very pretty to look at directly, maybe I'll get used to seeing 60 little lights in the bulb, but for now it just looks odd.

4.0 out of 5 stars New kitchen lights., September 29, 2009

I bought this light to start a conversion from normal 65 watt flood lights to the cooler LED lights (139 degrees vs 78 degrees). I also have some CFL bulbs throughout the house and have to say the light from this bulb is a little dim. I have three of them in the kitchen now over the center island which is a bit too much mood lighting for cutting food without fear of injury. I think my compromise will be mixed lighting instead of the pure fleet I originally wanted. Maybe they will improve the technology for a better one-to-one exchange, but for now it's not quite there. On a positive note, this light is the exact same light SmarterLight sells for $24.95 it just takes longer to get here.

I originally bought one of their (white green) bulbs which was ok but pretty green. It's still kind of pretty so I left it. The white version works great however. It's not on the same brightness level as a CFL bulb but it takes much less power too. I have one of these white lights in a 3 bulb lamp and I'm buying 2 more. I think 3 of these bulbs will be as bright as your typical CFL bulb. I got interested in the LED bulbs since I'm putting together a backup solar power system. I'm expecting grid power to become less reliable as we progress into this economic depression so I thought I'd spend a few bucks to get ready. I'm using one of those roll around Xanex power supplies with 4 additional sealed deep cycle batteries on top. I vacuumed my condo the other day with my big monster of a Kirby vacuum cleaner (but I digress). I could probably burn those 3 LED bulbs on my backup power supply system for a week or two before needing a recharge (but my solar panel will keep it topped up for me).
