Cairos vividly diverse neighborhoods and building styles reveal the citys cosmopolitan energy and reflect the myriad of economic, political, and cultural forces that have shaped it over the centuries. Paris along the Nile captures in 200 black-and-white photographs the architectural jewels of modern Cairo, combining architectural and street photography to produce a compelling portrait of the old and the new. Each photograph is accompanied by a caption that gives the neighborhood, street address, and, if known, the architect, date of construction, and the first owner of the building.
