I have a 2 year old daughter who loves puzzles, blocks etc. so I thought she would enjoy pattern cards and she really does. She sits at the kitchen table and completes the pictures while I am cooking. She gets very excited when she puts a piece in the right spot and is even more excited to finish a card. Yes, the shapes move around on the card, but I just showed her how to adjust it back and she can do it herself now. The cards have different difficulty levels which is nice. Since she is only 2 I have hidden the harder cards so she can focus on perfecting the first 3 and then be excited about moving onto the next level once she is ready. The activity reinforces her learning of shapes and colors and how shapes fit together. I would definitely recommend this product.

My 7, 5, and 2 year old all played with these at an open house at my daughters school and loved them. So the hunt was on to find blocks and cards for the least expensive price out there. We found it! (blocks are cheapest through Madison Art shop) Our kids(along with granps and dad) have played for hours with these things. You can continue to challenge them beyond with putting the reccommended twists on the play. These will last well into elemntary for most.

These cards are sturdy, full color cards with clear lines to delineate between the different shapes, and have several levels of cards to grow with your child. For my children, these are a great way to practice their spacial relationship skills without the limitations of a puzzle to keep them in bounds. I highly recommend these to anyone with the pattern blocks!

My daughter has been playing with these puzzle cards and pieces since she was 3 (4 years now). At first she just filled in the puzzles. Later, I found more patterns online and she copied them on the desk by just looking at the patterns - even if they used different color shapes. Then she used them with her friends, they didn't have anything like this set at home. The cards wipe clean I use baby wipes, easier and smells good),and if the cards are bent I lay them between two big books for a day or so.As my girl has grown out of the puzzles and all her friends have as well, she began making her own puzzles independently, and I encouraged her to trace the outside edges and offer them as challenges for her friends. I traced them as well, the challenges lasted about a year. The pieces have also found their way into the self-made games that kids make up with paper, pencil and pieces; they also find their way into stacking sets, such as being stuck into Connectagons' notches for extra color. At some point, we'll just use the pieces as counters for Magic the Gathering or Steve Jackson's "Cheap A$$ Games" (games that come with no board, dice or markers, you supply them). I don't see any sign of the cards or the pieces wearing out anytime soon! |
