Could we get some clarification on this item: is it the special edition or not? The box image says special edition, but no mention anywhere else. The special edition includes some extra goodies: http://worthplaying.com/article/2012/5/22/news/86148/

Yes it is the SE. It says so in the "Bonus Offer" section right under the release date.

Interestingly enough, that actually wasn't there when I posted the first time. I also notice that the title on the search results page now says Special Edition, though it didn't before. Thanks for the reply!

Also the retail price in the press release was $59.99 so preorder while it is still $49.99.

It's $59.99 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 so maybe the PC version is only $49.99?

Amazon originally had 49.99, then it became SE and was 59.99 for a day or two, now it is back to 49.99 again. It might not stay there tho.

Yeah I was going to hold off pre-ordering in case they announce a real Collector's Edition, but I figured I might as well get in now before they bump the price back up to $59.99 (can always cancel if something is announced later :P).

What exactly are you looking for? This SE seems pretty nice to me. They add any more and it is going to be one of those way over priced deals where they give you some cheap statue...

Nothing specific - but you know, if they were to do anything more I'd probably want that version :P An example was I saw an interview with the devs from e3 where it was suggested they could include the original prototype version (with all the unchanged classic X-Com features) in a CE. Something like that would be awesome. But either way I will be happy :)

Price finally went back to up to $60. Glad I got my preorder in at $50, even thought I really just want the SE goodies. Depened on how well my M11x R3 can run the game, I may just sell the steam CD key.

Is this going to be a steamworks game?

In reply to an earlier post on Jun 18, 2012 8:50:16 AM PDT
Friaxis' last few PC games (Civilization V) have been, so I'm hoping that XCOM will be Steamworks as well.

Wow, that didn't take long. Glad I jumped on the pre-order while it was still $50.

Also I agree, hope it's Steamworks as well :)
