5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent video card for a single card solution.
A very expensive video card, and a good choice if you only want a single card solution. Depending on the resolution you choose to use will determine the overall or perceived performance. I have tested this card with the 3007 HC 30" monitor from Dell and it performed very well, at these resolutions you will not be able to set all settings on high without performance loss...

1.0 out of 5 stars Card a bust...
Just over a year after I had this card installed and its busted already. That's probably why they only gave 1 year warranty at the time because after that this card is defective. I think the card easily heats up. I had a full tower with loads of ventilation so the problem isnt on my end. Nvidia should scrap this card and never sell it again.

A very expensive video card, and a good choice if you only want a single card solution. Depending on the resolution you choose to use will determine the overall or perceived performance. I have tested this card with the 3007 HC 30" monitor from Dell and it performed very well, at these resolutions you will not be able to set all settings on high without performance loss. I play a lot of online shooters and am mainly concerned with view distance and frame rate. I generally force 8x anisotropic filtering for better view distance and clarity, while turning special effects such as smoke, heavy shadows, lighting effects and motion blur off to maintain frame rate. For a 60Hz monitor a 120-125 frames per second is ideal when combined with a 2000 dpi mouse (or higher) set to 1000Hz (reports per second). The result will be butter smooth motion and extreme head shot value. I currently run this card on a Sceptre 37" 1080p monitor (HDTV) through DVI to HDMI at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz. Excellent results, I previously was running an 8800GTX, which is powerful in its own right; but I do have to concede the additional performance is certainly noticeable and welcome.

it's a great choice, but i stongly recommend a good full tower case with perfect air flow, otherwise don't bother your self. All these new graphic cards are hot, so prepare your case.

I cannot believe folks would sink so low as to try to get someone to pay almost $800 for this card.I paid 450 for it when they came out a littel over a year ago.they were worth 450 then, there are better and cheaper cards now,Amazon shouldnt let this kind of thing go on,If they wont be honest with you,At least let me...

5.0 out of 5 stars Insane New Series of GFX!!, June 27, 2008
This review is from: eVGA e-GeForce GTX280 1GB DDR3 PCI-Express 2.0 Graphics Card-Lifetime Warranty with Free Special Edition EVGA Precision Overclocking Utility (Personal Computers)
If you thought Geforce 9 series was great, you haven't seen anything yet! This beast has:

1 GB of memory
602 MHz Core Clock Speed
2214 Memory Clock Speed
141.69 GB/sec Memory bandwidth
(also keep in mind that the Playstation 3
has a memory bandwidth up to 48 GB/sec!)
1298 MHz Shader Clock speed

So not only is it faster than the PS3 or 360, but it's faster than anything else! (except the GTX280 HC liquid-cooled cards). Also, since Nvidia bought AGEIA (the company known for making PhysX cards), This new series of cards implements the technology of AGEIA's Physics processing into these cards. Making the ultimate all-in-one package.

The only way to mimic this same card is to get a Geforce 9800 GX2 with an old AGEIA PhysX card, may be cheaper to get the 2 cards seperately, but it may be better altogether to get this all-in-one package!

GAMERS, VIDEO EDITORS, GAME CREATORS! THE TRUE NEXT GENERATION HAS ARRIVED!!

Better make sure your power supply (including wires) can support this beast of a video card. It needs a 6 pin and an 8 pin PCI-E connection from the power supply. The evga box comes with a Y adapter but then theres a label that "u need a new PSU, this is only a temporary solution" which is sort of absurd, as i have a 700 W OCZ gamextreem psu relatively new! Have the Y adapter in my system but worry about them saying "its only a temp solution"

Also, this is a BIG card and i had trouble fitting it in my giant alienware ATX case (theres probably just 2 mm space between the front of the card and it touching my HDD bays (the inner frame casing). better measure ur dimensions before buying it. I had to get a thinner IDE drive cable as it was blocking it and had to move the cards location to the second pci-e slot. Theres NO WAY you can fit three of these in SLI, and ull have problems physically fitting two gtx 280 cards on ur mobo/case. Specially with the ridiculous extra power cables u need running to the edge of the card. (1 6pin and 8 pin to EACH card from ur psu!) Ull probably at least need a new PSU and a bigger case if u run this in SLI. (what case is bigger than an alienware one like mine!)

otherwise, in game its of course a raging beast. still have to use it with FSX though. Also, am pissed off because i bought it as the best, fastest card on the market, only to have them come out with the GTX 295 a week later.

otherwise it works well and is recognized by my vista 64 OS with X58 sli motherboard (core i7) and no bios problems
