4.0 out of 5 stars generally happy
I've had this phone for about a week now. I've recharged it twice, battery life seems to last a few days, less if I use the phone alot. The PCS Vision features are really nice. I have my email forwarded to my phone for certain people I need to get back to right away. My only complaint is that during calls, the people on the other say I'm breaking up sometimes so I would...

2.0 out of 5 stars Not that good of a phone
I have had this phone for several months and I cant stand it. I didnt actually buy it in the first place. It was a replacement provided by Sprint for a LG VI-125 that went haywire. The A760 is bulky. It takes for ever to get it out of my pocket.
The sound quality is bad in every way. Voice quality is muddied. Downloaded ringtones are indistiguishable. And the sound...

I've had this phone for about a week now. I've recharged it twice, battery life seems to last a few days, less if I use the phone alot. The PCS Vision features are really nice. I have my email forwarded to my phone for certain people I need to get back to right away. My only complaint is that during calls, the people on the other say I'm breaking up sometimes so I would say call quality is not as good as my old A460 (the screen died on that one which I hear is a common problem). I gave the A760 four stars because of all the features but if I had to rate on call quality alone I'd only give it three. I'm leaning towards keeping it because of the other features but may also see what other phones are out there before my 14 days are up.

4.0 out of 5 stars Samsung clarity and features; speakerphone, September 11, 2005
This review is from: PCS Phone Samsung RL-A760 (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
I have owned 5 other Sprint PCS phone models since 1999, and they have all been Samsungs since the SCH-3500 flip phone.

As usual, the voice quality is excellent, and much more natural than any Sanyo that I've heard.

Pros:

The speakerphone is a long-waited-for addition. Note, though, that when the other person speaks, the microphone is muted when on speaker mode (and vica versa). This is to prevent feedback, I think. It otherwise works very well.

The other features are awesome as usual:

1. Voice recognition - Voicesignal's excellent software continues to add new features. Already included in previous models were:
* Speaker independent voice-dial - no training needed.
* voice digit dial, or phonebook name dial - no second voice-dial phonebook - your main phonebook is your voice dial phonebook.

2. Closed-flip usage. Samsung, in my opinion, has always had the smartest software (designers):
* Phone can be activated by holding the speaker button down, then using voice actication as usual (though, not with much ambient noise, b/c the speakerphone picks up everything).
* one press on the speaker button brings up the recent calls list - use the volume up/down key to scroll to the number you want to call (outgoing, incoming, missed - all there) and hit the speaker button again.
* even disabling the keyguard is easy - no annoying sequence of buttons to press, just hold down one button on each side (which face each other making them easy to push together) to de/activate keyguard.
BTW, When the flip is opened, key guard turns off.

3. Phonebook:
* When you begin dialing, the phone shows the speed dial (ex. then dialing a 212 are code, at 2, the phone will show who is set for speed dial 2, at 21, contact speed dial 21, etc. This is very useful if you're not sure the exact number of a speed dial contact.
* 4 digit match is back: if your contact's number in your phone book is 646-555-1212, if you dial 1212 and Talk, it will dial that number.

4.Reception is good, so far - I haven't yet dropped a call in a week of usage, over some long phone calls.

5.Backlighting is excellent.

6. Browser is responsive as well.

7. External extendable antenna - less radiation to worry about.

Cons:

* No handstrap
* No Camera
* Screen is smaller than the A620/VGA-1000 (still OK)
* external screen is black and white
- if you set the phone to answer on flip open, you'll never see the picture associated with the phonebook entry of the caller because it doesn't display them on the external screen.

I guess Samsung or Sprint decided either or: Ready Link or Camera - this Ready Link phone still lets you download screen savers, so you can still customize the phone - you just can't take photos and email them.

I'm happy with this phone, so far. I ordered these for 4 family members as well.

The sound quality is bad in every way. Voice quality is muddied. Downloaded ringtones are indistiguishable. And the sound quality while using a headset is weak at best. I put up with this b/c I don't want to have to drop another $200 on a phone nor extend my survice agreement by another 2 years. Why cant someone build a basic phone without charging an arm and a leg? The only redeeming feature on this phone is that it came with Tetris Deluxe.
