As of today, the SCP-5300 is my all-time favorite.,

This review is from: PCS Phone Sanyo SCP5300 (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
When my fiance and I started with SprintPCS, we both chose Sanyo vision phones. This was in July of 2003. I chose the SCP5300 for it's "manlier" look and she chose the SCP8100. Both of these phones have performed so incredibly well that I almost feel I am ripping SprintPCS off. Both models boast exceptional service at both my house (Hinsdale, IL) and my work (Wheaton, IL). The phones have an incredible amount of memory space, and both offer more features than any other phone on the market (and I can honestly say this after months of research). The SCP8100 has one advantage over the SCP5300 in that it allows you to send a recorded message to another vision phone. This is a fun feature, but the 5300 includes a much more attractive menu, better picture quality, a flash and zoom. The phone is AMAZINGLY durable, and even after being dropped several times on the driveway, it shows no sign of a scratch. The screen is also impressive - it is 1/2" or so larger than the 8100's, and avoids dust or face-scratches. I would recommend the 5300 for those who are willing to spend more money. I recieved a discount that brought the price of the phone down to $129. My fiance's discount brought the price of her phone down to $99. The 5300, with the improved camera and little extra features here and there, is WELL WORTH the extra $30. SprintPCS, as a service, has been the root of many complaints before. I, personally, have had few problems with the service. The fees are priced better than the other leading phone services, and the vision internet is free (with 2000 or more minutes). Vision is amazing - like owning a laptop, not a phone... I find that I can spend hours playing around while on the train, or at lunch. SprintPCS is a PCS service, so the clarity of the calls is superior to all analog services, and I have never experienced a dropped call, although other people on this board apparently have. There is one thing about SprintPCS that I will complain about, though. The customer service SUCKS. I called customer service numerous times to ask about special deals, and the ignorance is incredible. I had to repeat my long story to almost 5 people, and I found that each of them had someone else to transfer me to, no matter what. Sprint really needs to clean up their act in this aspect - It's HELL to make a call to them, but, hey... if it keeps angry customers from calling... Anyway, I HIGHLY recommend this phone in all it's goodness. In my opinion, it is the top of the ladder when it comes to the cell phone selection today.

Awesome Phone!!!,

This is an unbelievable phone. Sanyo has done it again. My previous phone was the Sanyo 4900, and I was very loyal to it. I had never had any dropped calls or problems with the battery, but I wanted to upgrade. I decided to stick with Sanyo, since I had not had any trouble whatsover with them. I am glad I did. This phone is great. First of all, the design is so sleek. It looks very sheik. The screen is very large, with instensely crisp and vibrant colors. The camera is awesome, the quality is better than any average digital camera. Navigating through the very colorful menu is also eye candy. Not only is it very easy and self explanatory, the pictures that accompany the menu are very pleasing to the eye. My favorite thing, is that you can assign a different ringer and picture to each and every number in your phone book. I have taken pictures of my family and friends and have assigned it to their number. I see their picture when they call. If you want an awesome phone, with great features and great functions, then this is the phone for you.

I have had nothing but delight with phone. the integrated camera functions very well, the dual color screens are very clear bright. And even with extended camara, internet and video game use, the battery keeps on chugging. I have yet to have any problems and this is easily the best phone i have ever had.

A champ!,

This phone has been great. I have carried it with me everywhere I go for the last 2 1/2 years, and it has held up wonderfully. I have never had any mechanical problems, and aside from some minor cosmetic scratches from normal wear and tear this phone still looks and works just as great as it did when I bought it. I believe this was the first camera phone on the market to have both a flash and a zoom lens, and even today it takes better pictures than a lot of the new ones they are coming out with. The Internet capability was also very groundbreaking for me, and it was so convenient to be able to do things like check movie times at local theaters with the push of a fwe buttons. I'm getting to the point where I am about to upgrade, but really only for the purpose of getting a phone with camcorder and LiveMedia capability. I have had a couple of problems with the Sprint service over the years, which I think is somewhat unavoidable in this day and age, but they have always been willing to work with me and do what they could to resolve the issue. Bottom line, this phone has served me well and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good reliable camera phone.

Just looking for an upgrade,
This review is from: PCS Phone Sanyo SCP5300 (Sprint) (Wireless Phone)
When i first bought this phone 2 years ago, i fell in love! It has a camera w/ a flash, and took better pictures than most of the other phones out there at the time.
The phone is durable and came with two batteries, one extended. Like i said, i have had this phone for 2+ years and its not falling apart! I have had no dropped calls, but the internet speed is kinda slow for my liking. The only real problem i have with the phone is that its not SMS compatible. I can not receive texts directly to the phone, but need to log onto through the internet to read and send (short mail) messages. I wouldnt recommend this phone if you are looking for text messaging battles with your friends. Lots of times the network would have problems, and you wouldnt be able to send and receive. Of course, that is Sprint's fault and not the phone itself! Other than that, Sprint is a reliable wireless provider, and whenever i do have a problem, they are always patient with me!

This phone doesn't take a licking and keep on ticking. I've had this phone since Dec 02 it was ok in the beginning but after 2 months I started to have problems with this phone. I couldn't hold to signal even with all the bars lit up I had to exchange it several times and sprint service is not the greatest because you know it may be the largest all digital network but it the greastest all digital dropped calls provider also Don't get this phone after all even a $100-150 it to much to spend on this phone and I got it at $400

This phone is great. The only problem I have with it is the leather carrying case. I bought one from sprint that did not fit well so I bought another from body glove which fit well but it did not allow the phone to completly close which can cause undue battery loss. With the car charger I've never had to worry about having a dead battery. The other thing about the case is that you have to move it out of the way with your finger when taking a picture. Not a big deal because your finger is right there anyway. Overall great phone, no major problems from sprint. PCS vision downloads can be expensive but there are sites you can get downloads for free. 3Gupload.com

The flip phone hinges froze up and then one side at a time broke the plastic case and came apart until it broke the display cable. Takes the special y driver to replace the case and I can't find a Cell Phone store to replace the case.
Also the data cable/charging port failed.

I had been an ATT customer for years, but after the last few months of lousy service in my area I began shopping for a new provider. At first I was reluctant to switch from my beloved Motorola phones, but after using the Sanyo 5300 for a few weeks now I am very impressed with what Sanyo has done with this phone. I also have to qualify these next remarks because I understand that cell phone carriers vary in reliability throughout the country, but here in Central Iowa I have had better coverage with Sprint and this phone than with any other phone. I travel to lots of rural and remote areas in the state, and so far I have not lost a signal anywhere-even in areas that my old phone/carrier combination would drop.

Great phone, lousy accessories,

I've had this phone for about 6 months now. Has great features, decent built-in camera, and great battery life with the extended battery attatched. The only gripe I have with this phone is the accessories available aren't that great. I bought a carrying case directly from the spring store and the clamshell wouldn't stay shut when it was on it phone. I also purchased the cradle from the same store. It does NOT come included with the usb cable. (Which is just nuts considering it's price.) Also, when you stick the phone in it you have to push it in just right otherwise it doesn't 'catch' properly and it will not charge.I've subsequently dropped my phone several times, scratching the |
