PCT (Channel Master ) #3000A Omnidirectional Antenna,
This review is from: Channel Master Omni-directional SMARTenna (Electronics)
This antenna is pretty good. I'm using it in an attic on a rotor as it's really not, truly "omni-directional". I'd say that because of the signal lose in the attic, it's range is about 20 miles. Stations beyond that are dicey. I'm using it with a Digital Stream 9900 HD/Analog converter. When the wind is blowing, the signal strength varies a bit and the picture will "pixelate" on weaker stations.

I use this in on the outside of the all metal building where I work, at an airport. Since the building is quite close to an active runway and taxiway, there are limits to how high above the building the antenna can be, so it's only about a foot above the (flat) roof.
Even so, it works quite well. I have two tvs connected to it, and they're able to pick up stations as far as 60 miles away, depending on time of day, weather, etc. Even a very weak station about 25 miles away comes in almost all the time. Of course, all stations are digital these days, so if you get any sort of decent signal at all, the picture is quite clear. Still, this antenna seems to do an excellent job overall. It's moderately omnidirectional, but it does receive better if you have the "front" side (marked on the antenna) pointed toward the station. If you use the front performance as 100%, then the back is maybe 80%, and the sides are about 60%. Not too bad, actually, if you know anything about antenna theory. All things considered, it's been well worth the money for me.

this antenna is great if you are close to the TV chanels , it worked great for me when I lived only about 20 miles from the TV chanels , but when I moved it wasn't good enough to bring in TV from 60 miles away, so judge for yourself .

Didn't Work For Me,
This review is from: Channel Master Omni-directional SMARTenna (Electronics)
I ordered this product online after doing the AntennaWeb scan for stations and antenna types in my area (Charleston, SC). The scan showed that all my stations require red, blue or violet antennas but this antenna is designed for the yellow zone. I tried a quick hookup but it did not receive any of the 14 available stations. It would be very helpful if your discriptions of the antennas available included information about the antenna type color zones!

No replacement of a small part.,

I purchased Channel Master's model 3000A about 2 1/2 yrs ago. It had been working O.K. until a worker accidentally damaged a small part (power supply and injector, model 3037) in January 2011. I saw this part for sale in Channel Master's website. When I tried to order it two weeks later, however, I could not see this item in the same website. I sent email to Channel Master for inquiry, but there was no reply. On Jan 21, 2011 I called Channel Master's client/distributor supp department, and they told me that model 3037 was not available but they would contact me should it become available. To date (March 1) they have not contacted me.
The whole antenna (including the expensive job of setting it up and wiring) is useless without this small part. I would recommend this item only to those who are sure that they can keep every small part undamaged forever.

Works as Advertised,

I was skeptical about the "omni directional" claim, and perhaps a traditional antennae on a rotor would receive stations a little better. But I am not supposed to have an antennae on my roof in my neighborhood so I thought this less intrusive. It's about the same size and shape of a satellite dish, only horizontal so does not bring attention to itself. Also, due to its horizontal disc shape, not as susceptible to being pushed out of alignment by the wind (as a satellite dish often is). My goal was to eliminate payments to a satellite or cable company, and an amplified antennae seemed like a good idea. I knew that my camper antennae would receive 24 channels in my driveway (rural, between Cleveland and Mansfield Ohio). So I needed at least that many in my home to be satisfied. I disconnected the old satellite dish from the roof of my house and tossed it down, replacing it with this antennae. Once plugging in the little amplifier and TV, I was delighted to receive 37 channels! Maybe you can find a better one, but not one less intrusive for the money, I believe.

This antenna provides a good alternative to high cable and satelite prices at a low one time price.
I recieve all the major networks and many PBS stations from multiple directions, mostly all in High Definition which is sometimes superior to cable reception. Some of the fringe stations over 25 miles away fade in and out occasionally mostly due to weather conditions. (Rain, fog and windy conditions.) My antenna is mounted on a 21' length of 1+1/2 pipe extending about 6 feet above my mobil home roof. I believe the reception would be even better in extended a bit higher, and should be guy wired to reduce the wind effect. Although the antenna is "omnidirectional", I have found a minor rotation of just a few degrees can improve a weak station. Over all I am very pleased with the performance. I am about 20 miles south of Tampa, Fl and receive some 28 watchable stations not counting the spanish stations.

Works for me,

While a better antenna solution is a Antennas Direct DB8 Multidirectional HDTV Antenna with a Channel Master 9521A Antenna Rotator, I went with this simpler antenna (actually designed for mobile homes). It had a small multipath problem with some old NTSC stations, but it works fine for HDTV in Tucson with my Full HD 1080p HDMI A/V Switcher Digital HDTV Tuner Receiver Media Box. Comes with powered amplifier that must be outside since that's where my multiple connections meet. I've owned this antenna for over six years.
