4.0 out of 5 stars It's not Adobe, but...
It does do something other low cost and free PDF makers don't, make a PDF out of just about anything. Just drag your file of images in to the assistant or load files one at a time from different sources and tell it to make them all in to one PDF. Automatically it will go alphabetically or you load them in one at a time in a specific order. Every time you right click it...

It does do something other low cost and free PDF makers don't, make a PDF out of just about anything. Just drag your file of images in to the assistant or load files one at a time from different sources and tell it to make them all in to one PDF. Automatically it will go alphabetically or you load them in one at a time in a specific order. Every time you right click it will ask if you want a PDF made out of it, web pages too.

Okay, it can be annoying, once the exe is in your computer it could take an act of congress to remove, but it's not as annoying as the full bells and whistles version that will lovingly make its self your default. Since everyone gets an Acrobat reader and most of us don't need to edit PDFs all you need is the PDF Create.

This software can drive one crazy installing it, activating it and removing it. When I got it, I thought I could install it on my main computer and my laptop. No such luck. You can install this on ONE computer only. The activation works with the "fingerprint" of your machine to activate and if you buy a new computer or want to install this on another, you have to call the tech/customer support. It's a pain.

Then there were other problems. First, the serial number on the sleeve didn't fit the digits in the setup serial number. There were more digits than could be entered. I still don't know what that's about. I also ran into problems of certain files needing to be replaced, which I had to hit "Retry" and then "Ignore." When I uninstalled the program, it told me I had to shut down programs using obscure files I'd never seen. Fine, but what programs were these? Again, I had to hit "Retry" and then "Ignore."

In the end, activation is something to be avoided generally. And if you can't install a program on two or three of your own computers, a software is more trouble than it's worth.

As far as working, it will create the PDFs, okay, but it's much slower and messier than Adobe (it's also cheaper). All in all, I didn't like it. Tech support doesn't have the right questions in its FAQs and it's very difficult to get personal service.

So...if you have only one computer, have the time to get help in installation, don't need any tech support and require only basic WYSIWYG rendering of files, this may be for you. As for me, I'm never buying anything from Nuance again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very useful program, April 26, 2009

I just bought this program when it came on sale at Amazon. I've had a number of files I'd saved via my scanner in individual pdf files. This program made it very easy to combine them into one pdf file just like the most expensive pdf program does. I don't need a lot of pdf capability, but it's nice to be able to directly save a file to pdf format from Word, from an internet page, or from almost any other program. If you are looking for an easy to use, easy to understand, fast program to convert almost anything to pdf, this is for you. I have people with whom I communicate that just aren't into Word or other Microsoft Office programs who have appreciated the ability to see and save a document I've been able to send them in pdf. So, in summary, I highly recommend this application is an inexpensive way to get things into pdf quickly, easily, and efficiently.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Poor Webpage printing, March 3, 2009
This review is from: PDF Create! 5.0 [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I use Adobe Acrobat at work a bunch to save all kind of documents like web pages, emails, etc. I got Nuance PDF Create! 5 for home use because a retailer was running a good rebate. I would not recommend Nuance PDF Create! 5 at all. It does not capture web pages very well (cuts off photos, omits photos, the pdf format is poor compared to the webpage.) It may be fine for simply formatted things like Word documents, but why bother creating a pdf of something simple or common format?

5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool for doing a batch of files, September 28, 2010
This review is from: PDF Create! 5.0 [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I use this with a custom AutoCAD script to automatically create PDF files. I can set it to make the PDF files based on the CAD file name or create 1 PDF with all of the files.

To use the auto-naming features go to control panel > printers > right click > printing preferences > PDF settings > destination > naming method:

5.0 out of 5 stars works for me..., September 12, 2009
This review is from: PDF Create! 5.0 [OLD VERSION] (CD-ROM)
I need to make PDF files now and again. I found this at Amazon after web searching for quite a while. After using it for one year now, it works great on my XP operating system. It does add itself to the menu tabs in WORD and EXCEL, which bothered me at first, but it is actually very convenient and works flawlessly. Hoorah for software that does what it claims to do and works!
