5.0 out of 5 stars A Pleasant Suprise
A well thought out design. Plastic shows no signs of "warpage" or "shrinkage" so common in the Big box boxes.
I Needed a toolbox to use as a field box for my rc planes, the PDY systems box far exceeded my expectations, I am able to put even most of my bench tools in. The drawers are sized intelligently and come with extra dividers. the upper section is large enough...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lift-n-Lock Toolbox
I purchased my Lift-n-Lock to replace an old fishing tackle box. It held all my old 3 tray box had and there is room for much more.

There are a couple of issues with the box that do need mentioned but are not a deal breaker, at least for me.

First, the upper compartment under the lid has a floor that is webbed. This makes it a little difficult in...

I'm trying to come up with an excuse to my wife to buy another one....;p

This is the kind of amazingly simple and wonderfully utilitarian device that you realize you coulda, shoulda, thought of it yourself.

This is going to be brief--

As a retired metal trades craftsman, I wish I'd had a toolbox like this when I was carrying one every day. I begrudge you smart folks who buy one of these all the hours you're going to save not having to pick up/resort your mixed parts and tools either because a latch failed or you simply forgot to latch or latched improperly. And I'm not sure, but I also think this box is going to reduce the incidence of jammed drawers--maybe even eliminate them.

I can't believe anybody who buys one of these would ever have reason to regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review: PDY Toolbox Organizer, July 22, 2010

This review is from: Lift-N-Lock Tool Case (Misc.)
I went looking for an organizer for my woodshop a couple of weeks ago. I turn pens and I needed something to keep things organized. Between pen kits, bushing, drill bits, turning sleeves, etc, everything went everywhere and I (of course) couldn't find everything as I needed to.

I started looking at tackle boxes, but they were too small. Formal cabinets were more than I needed and I wanted to be able to swing my organizer out of the way once I found what I needed. I found the PDY on Amazon (where I find most things) and only got interested when I watched the video. I usually don't watch the videos, but this one told a good story and it sold me immediately.

The PDY system was just what the doctor ordered. Its big and its three drawers are roomey and deep and (best of all) they lock without items spilling across compartments. I'm not sure that I'd try to keep liquids separated in them (no, I'm not suggesting you try...) but they are very adequate even for very small nuts, screws and bolts. The upper compartment (that's a lid if you can't tell from the picture) is deep and well organized.

I'm very pleased with my purchase. I believe you will be too if you buy it.

I'm using this as a field box for RC Aircraft and it's everything the manufacturer says it is. The top section is deep enough to hold a Sullivan starter w/power pack along with a radio if you're not concerned with it (radio) shifting around with room to spare. The video gives a very good description. The drawers lock as shown just insure they are fully closed, and it's made in the *U*S*A - not Communist China!

I purchased this tool box to store my cake decorating tools, icing bags and decorating tips in. Most boxes made for this purpose did not suite my needs. This is the perfect box for me. Drawers store my decorating tips, paste color bottles and other small items, while the larger top box stores all my other larger tools of the trade. Perfect box for the cake decorator.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome tool box, March 19, 2011

The ability to carry small items in the tray and not have them spill out if it gets tipped over (difficult to do) while the handle is in the carry or locked position. The parts will spill out if the lid is open or the handle is in the open position. It is a stable, sturdy unit though. It is hard to knock over and is well built. The only problem with getting a larger box as I did is now I have even more room for more stuff. It can get heavy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Toolbox!, November 6, 2010

Love this toolbox. Reminds me of the old black and grey Plano I used to use when I raced R/C cars when was little. Glad to see this was designed for R/C use in mind. The drawers are great, with the bottom-drawer spaciousness well appreciated. Read a review where someone did not like the top compartment lack of flat surface (has webbed design for increased structural rigidity). While I agree, it would be nice to have a flat surface, this could easily be overcome with a cardboard or foam cutout. Lift and Lok design is sweet! They really did a nice job here! Finding an excuse to pick up another one!

This makes it a little difficult in arranging and organizing things there.

Second, if used out in the rain, it looks as though water could enter the upper compartment around where the handle attaches to the locking system.

I do like the new box and would recommend it but just not impressed enough to give it more than an "it's OK" rating.
