I bought this and some other reference materials to prepare and take the PE exam, and the sample problems in this manual were by far the best. They are formatted very much like the actual PE exam, and aided greatly in preparing for the test structure and types of questions. While my exam didn't have too many questions of a similar nature to what was in this book, the preparation I did by working the problems was invaluable, especially for getting accustomed to the test format and trying to answer the questions in a fixed amount of time. I did use the manual a couple of times during the PE to check similar questions for ideas on the solution methodology, and found it to be helpful, mostly for disciplines other than mine. All in all, this is a must-have reference manual for preparing for the PE.

This was a very useful reference for the most part. I found the problems to be very similar to the caliber on the actual exam and the format was virtually identical. However, some of the solutions were a little hard to follow for me, and I didn't think there were enough problems for practice (20 for the breadth, and 20 for each depth). I suggest that one use this reference for not only some practice, but also as a gauge to the PE exam level of difficulty. Maybe use it as a practice test just before the exam. If you can finish it in 4-hours and do well, you should do pretty well on the PE exam. Also, remember to download the errata from the NCEES website for this book. It has its share of errors.

This was a turning point in my preparation for the Civil PE Exam, as it gave me great perspective on what the questions might be like, what areas I'm weaker in, and it gave me a sense of the needed pace (I timed myself). An excellent book. I took it to the exam, but it was difficult to use as it has no index or anything. You could tab it yourself if you wanted to use it in the exam. I just flipped through until I found the example I was looking for. I think that it was most useful as a preparation tool. This book is only fifty-five dollrs from the NCEES website. Makes me want to buy a few dozen and sell them here for quick profit.

If you are taking the Civil PE Exam, you have to get this practice exam, whether or not you order it from Amazon. It is essentially a half exam compiled of questions from past exams. There is a morning session and an afternoon session for each of the 5 afternoon options. The solutions are pretty clear cut and list the references that the solutions were derived from, if applicable. If you only buy one study guide, make it this one. If you are up for more, add the Six Minute Solutions (especially for the afternoon session you choose to take) guides to your library. Of course you still need to get the Lindeburg Reference Manual.

Great condition... and cheaper than buying it through NCEES's website. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone studying for the PE.
