NOT 5.8 GHZ IS 2.4 GHZ, July 25, 2008
This review is from: Mambate 2 pack PERIPHERAL NightVision OUTDOOR 4-Channel WIRELESS 330ft Night Vision CMOS CAMERA (2) W/RECEIVER & REMOTE control (Electronics)
I BOUGHT THESE, THEY ARE DISCRIBED AS 5.8 GHZ. THEY ARE NOT, THEY ARE 2.4 GHZ. WILL NOT RECEIVE A SIGNAL FROM EVEN 10' IF WALLS ARE IN LINE WITH CAMERA AND RECEIVER, INFORMED MAMBATE AND AMAZON OF MISINFORMATION BUT NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE. THEY JUST TELL ME TO RETURN THE ITEMS. PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE BUYING A DIFFERENT PRODUCT THEN WHAT THEY ARE RECEIVING.I AM VERY DISPPOINTED IN AMAZON FOR IGNORING THIS SITUATION.

You Get What You Pay For, April 16, 2008
This review is from: Mambate 2 pack PERIPHERAL NightVision OUTDOOR 4-Channel WIRELESS 330ft Night Vision CMOS CAMERA (2) W/RECEIVER & REMOTE control (Electronics)
This kit contains everything you need for a basic surveillance system. I gave it 4 stars because while it's very nifty and I'm rather pleased with my choice, it has some limitations.
The directions are not very helpful. It's just a piece of paper with pictures (the most helpful bit) and some text obviously translated into English. Luckily setting up the system is very easy.
I wanted to be able to plug this system into my computer, unfortunately that is not really possible unless you have the right jacks. My computer is only a year old, but I don't have video jacks so I'm out of luck there. I remember specifically reading that you could use it with your computer, but as I write this review I can't find the information now. Anyway, I do have a very new monitor with a video jack, so it works with that which is very cool.
In the images provided it says Remote Pan/Tilt. That isn't available in this unit.
It says it's for outdoors, which was one of the reasons I chose it, but the cords and power supplies seem way too delicate for having outside.
Unfortunately, there is another issue. If you put it in a window facing outside, when the Infrared lights come on at night, all you can see in the video are the lights. So proper placement is very important.
It's nice that it's wireless. I get a bit of static especially when I talk on the phone, but overall the picture quality is quite good. I plugged it into my large tv and it looked great. The only thing is because of the infrared, grass and bushes are white or grey instead of green which is weird.
Overall I do like what I got, especially for the price.
