New vintage for Peter Green fans,
By A Customer
This review is from: PETER GREEN SPLINTER GROUP (Audio CD)
After the very poor albums that Peter Green has released after leaving Fleetwood Mac, here is a real tour de force. Highlights include "The Stumble" and "Look on Yonder Wall". Peter green may not be playing his trademark Les Paul, but his timing and feel have mellowed beautifully (For those who think he's not as good as he used to be just compare the new version of "The Stumble" with the one on John Mayall's Bluesbreakers album "A Hard Road"). That tone is unmistakeable. Nigel Watson's playing is first class, and frequently it's hard to tell who's doing what. His voice has grown into the blues. Whereas he used to obviously milk the pathos of lyrics, now he slips into songs like "Hitch Hiking Woman" as if he lived them personally. Cosy Powell and Neill Murray give a masterclass in how a blues rhythm section should be. They sit in the right place in the mix, giving it definition without losing themselves or coming to the fore too much. Buy it, now, if you've ever liked the blues. You will not be sorry
