I'd used a few pairs of the Philips SHE5910 over the years and found them reliable and quite comfortable. With this product being the presumed successor, I was immediately curious. At its selling price I had no qualms with ordering a pair, and my expectations were met quite well. These are outstanding earphones that most audiophiles should be more than satisfied with and are a product that dealt with the criticisms of its other products to make something better than the sum of its parts.
The buds themselves have pretty much anything you could ask for-- their size lets them fit almost entirely in the ear, three different comfort cap sizes are given (allowing you hours of comfortable use), and the cord is a tidy length by default but has an 18" extension that makes it a good length for use at a desktop computer or iPod. One substantial criticism of previous models and the Philips line in general has been the sour quality of bass, and that's been addressed by a design they call "turbo bass". Generic term yes, but sounds under 100Hz or so really pop out and long extended bass hits play through like you'd see in a good car stereo. I found it good enough that I didn't need to adjust any equalizer settings in the low range, which is rare. Midrange seems to be where the bass quality was stolen from, and a lot of vocals or mild percussion can sting at times. There is an easy fix that I noted quickly... turn down the 3k-6kHz down 5db or so in your equalizer settings (if available) and piercing almost completely disappears. This is the only real flaw that I'd warn people serious about the quality of if you cannot adjust your settings... though this is available on all modern iPods and in PC mp3 software. To top it off, treble and high-end frequencies sparkle nicely. Really a fantastic value and a distinct advantage on the "entry-level" models from most brands which can be more expensive.

PHILIPS SHE9500/27 In-Ear Headphones: sound great, but i would like to have know before buying... the cord is very short, but it comes with an extension, which i thought was odd. and the earphones come with an off center cord, where one side is very short and one side very long. some people my like this option but i personally find it to be a real pain and the long side is alway getting in the way.
but they work and sound good,so if you dont mind the offset cord, they ok.

SHE9500 best ever,

I've actually lost my SHE9500 ear buds and now I'm going to buy another set. These are the most comfortable ear buds that I have ever tried (I've been using them for about 2 years. I've tried at least 15 different kinds, so that is saying something. I do have large ears, so most ear buds press up against my outer ear. These are different as the sit in my ear almost weightlessly.
So perfect I'm not trying another brand or model as a replacement.

I have tried numerous different brands of ear buds and these buds lasted the longest through lots of wear and tear. After trying many different brands, I just bought my second pair of these and I am very happy they're still on the market. I wore them while running in rain and extreme heat, sweating, yet they held out the longest. The bass and overall quality and clarity of the music is solid. The cord separates at the bottom so you can have a shorter cord for working out with an armband and a longer cord if you want to put you ipod in you pocket on the street. They sound as good, if not better that many of the more expensive buds I have used.

Deep bass and almost entire sound range that I can hear is accurately reproduced. These stop producing sound at about 21khz. The downside is that my left one has recently decided to play music at a much lower volume than the right. I've had them for 3 years so it was a good run but it seems like some manufacturer should be able to make something that just keeps working. Another downside is that the best fitting ear pieces only do a mediocre job of keeping the buds in my ears while exercising.

Best In Ear headphones I've ever had. I have really small ears and I cant wear the big ones with big caps, they hurt my inner ear. This sound great and fit perfectly, they dont fall out, or make my ear hurt.

If you want earphones that sound great and don bother you, then these are a must. Great bass, great clarity and you cant even tell that theres something in your ear. These are also great for bocking out any outside noise that you dont want to hear while playing music. I have been buying these for 4 years now. I never pick another type. So if you want great sound and comfort at a low price, then these are what your looking for.

I owned a pair of these a few years back, and finally lost them. I have been trying to find them ever since, but I had forgotten the brand. First of all should say, I think your opinion of their quality may vary depending on the type of music you listen to. For me, I listen to alot of Hip hop/Rap, and they have alot of Bass which compliments those types of music. I've gone through about 4 pairs of skull candy earphones as 1 of the ear phones usually stops working after the first couple of months. When I finally found a piece of paper where I had written the brand/model number for these earphones I was overcome with joy!!! I googled the info. and found them here on Amazon, and they'll be here any day now' Boy am I gonna have a good work out...

These are by far a the best budget "buds" out there. I have purchased pairs ranging from $10 to $100 and these have out performed them all. I highly recommend!

I paid $30 for these before the price came down and they offer excellent value.
While not "audiophile" quality (what is, below a hundred bucks?), they nevertheless offer good clarity and seperation. The rubber gaskets are a big improvement over the hard plastic, offer better comfort and insulation. The extension cord is a way to save the earbuds from breakage. I have fallen asleep with these in my ear, on my side, and have not been able to damage them. An excellent value for the money. |
