Happy With My Purchase,

This review is from: PIAA 10926 9006 (HB4) Intense White - 9006 51W=115W Xtra Intense White Bulb, Twin Pack (Misc.)
Purchased this set of Piaa 9006 Intense White bulbs to replace the stock Sylvanias that came with my car. Intense is quite an accurate description of the light output without being too bright, bluish/purplish, and blinding to other drivers. The light output is truly intense, beautiful, and pure white without a hint of blue. I wear glasses and think that these bulbs help with night driving by illuminating the front of the car much better than the stock bulbs. I am happy with my purchase. I just hope that they will last at least a year. Count me as a Piaa fan.............
It is Nov 2009 (a year later) and I am back to edit the above review I wrote in Nov 2008. I am happy to report that my bulbs are still fine after a year and my car actually has daytime running lights which means that they always come on everytime I drive the car. 5/9/11, Still working!! :-) These have been the longest lasting set of Piaa's for me.

Best out of the aftermarket bunch.,

Quite literally about this same time last year I have been running the Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulbs and on my drive home tonight they went out. I have used many many brands over the years from RAZ0s (lasted 7-8 months), Raybrigs (11 months), multitudes of Korean brands (11-13 months). The one after market brand that has been the best one out of the bunch has been the PIAAs for me. However I have only gotten 2 years (almost exactly) of life out of the 3 sets that I have owned in the past. Which is not good but is not bad either since I have yet to see an after market bulb last longer than 1 year other than these PIAAs.
I give 4 out of 5 stars. 4 stars for being the relative best of the bunch. 1 star off for durability. I will be going back to these especially since I have noticed the price of these bulbs are almost half the price I used to pay for them back in the days.

Another convert to PIAA from Silverstars and Silverstar Ultras. I really like the color (white, not phoney-HID blue or OEM yellow). I did notice right away that the Intense Whites don't seem to throw light as far as the SU's that I replaced. However, if they last longer, it'll be well worth it. And if these work out, may even be worth investigating an upgrade to the next level in the series.
Also, since Sylvania's ridiculous (new to me) restrictions on rebates prevent me from qualifying for them wherever I would normally purchase (Kragen, AutoZone, PepBoys, Amazon); it made sense to take my money elsewhere. I also like that PIAA states their warranty up front, unlike Sylvania. Though, I guess if my products wore out as fast and as often as the Silverstar's and Silverstar Ultras do, I wouldn't want people to know I was willing to replace them, either. Update: April 3, 2011 One year in and these bulbs are still going strong. As commented above, they don't cast light as far as I would personally like, so I'll probably upgrade to the Xtreme series the next time, whenever that may be, but hopefully not too soon! They still otherwise cast a nice, white light and they don't appear to have experienced any noticeable dimming over the past year.

Replacing the set since i had one go bad. After reading thru different product reviews it came down to this PIA or the Sylv. white star ultra. I had my fingers crossed when i picked these hoping they would be a bright shade of white and guess what.... just a hint of blue but not even close to that kids crap you see on the road. Wish I had these the 3 times I ve driven the ALCAN.
Best deal if not wanting to jump into HID, now just have to wait out to see if I can get some years out of these

My older Saturn vehicle's 9006 low beams were not illuminating the road as well as many of the newer vehicles with projector / reflector lights... and obviously not as well as HID. Now first of all, let me tell you what these are not; they are not HID and nothing from Amazon or PIAA states anything different. Anyone that understands HID lights would realize this, but I noticed from many reviews that some people are really confused by this.
Now, what these 9006 low beam lights *are,* they are BRIGHT. I do not have projectors or reflector headlights, so I was hoping for a reasonably priced bulb that would make night time driving a bit safer by offering a somewhat comparative headlight illumination to newer vehicles. This bulb definitely delivers an intensely WHITE and powerful light. The bulbs do an excellent job of illuminating the road in front of you. Yeah, some of those blue-ish headlight bulbs look "neat," but they really seem to be better suited for someone that's looking for that "boy-racer" look rather than these more subdued, yet brighter, (and in my opinon more expensive looking) headhlight bulbs. It definitely increased the safety factor for me, and is a large and worthwile improvement over the previous OEM Sylvania bulbs I had. By the way, for those of you that care, PIAA is a Japanese manufacturer and my bulbs were "Made in Japan." So, for under $50 with free shipping, I highly recommend these bulbs.

This is my second set of the Piaa intense bulbs for my fog lights. For the price in the range of $40, I thought it was fair. My 1st set was for the camry headlights. After 6mths, it's still working fine. Unlike the Silverstar Ultra, those bulbs lasted less than a year (bought 2x to give the silverstar a try = never again). Be careful as instructed in the instruction of not touching the bulbs w/ your hands or to any oil surfaces on the car. Will let you guys know the life of this bulbs! later

I just got a pair of the PIAA 9006 HB4 Intense White headlight bulbs, and I am very happy with the output of these lights. I was replacing the Sylvannia SilverStars because they weren't lasting long at all - under a year's worth of use was all I was getting out of them - and my DRL's use a different lamp altogether, so they weren't even used a whole lot. After going through two sets of the Sylvannia units, I thought I would give the PIAA's a try.
They are REALLY bright and very white - with just a tiny touch of bluish tint when you are at certain angles. I don't understand why some people have reviewed them poorly given the light output I'm seeing. I think some people must have unrealistic expectations and think they are going to get HID performance or something. Get real, people. If you want HID performance on cars without them, spend the $1,000 or so, and get a HID kit, spend an entire day wiring the ballasts in incorrectly, blowing them up in the process, then taking everything to a qualified technician to install the new set you just bought to replace the ones you blew up. $2,200 later, you'll have HID performance! I'll review their longevity in a year or so - I hope these will still be going strong.

I installed the lights today and just took the car out for a spin. These lights are exactly what I was expecting. They are not HID or Xenon, but PIAA is not really comparing them to those types of lights. If you want HID or Xenon, then I suggest searching for HID Bulbs or Xenon Bulbs (you would think that this is common sense, but some people STILL don't understand that this is not the HID or Xenon equivalent). The light is much brighter compared to my old stock bulbs. It is very white and things seem more clear when you are driving with these on at night. I am satisfied with my purchase and when I have to replace my high beams, I will probably return to PIAA for their 9005 bulbs. I understand that claiming I am satisfied after just one day might seem premature, however I also spent a few days obsessively researching this product and comparing it with others. I can truly say that I am impressed by how white the light is. The second I had ordered these, I started to feel buyers remorse because I was buying these based off of other people's opinions and I was unsure because I had not actually experienced it for myself. My nerves calmed the instant I sat in my car and turned my lights on. If the performance starts to decrease all of a sudden or something happens that makes me dislike these, I will post it and let you know. If you're on the fence about buying these, I think it's a great investment (based off of what I have read through the product reviews) and I recommend these. If you disagree and don't like them, I'm pretty sure Amazon has a great return policy.

I installed these in my Buick right at a year ago, as a replacement
for the Silver Star junk that Wally World is peddling. The Silver Stars would last 4-6 months if that, and poof. dead. These have held up at minimum, twice as long. They don't cost twice as much, and I don't have the frequent aggravation of changing bulbs so often, and the hazard of having a headlight out. As I said, they have lasted a year now, and still going strong. They are not overly amazing in color or output, but give good solid light and that is enough for me. I don't like cringing from other people's uber bright lights when I meet them, and really don't want to be "that guy". (Head on accidents from overly bright lights are a possibility in my estimation. That's a personal opinion, so take it with a grain of salt). Well worth my money and will purchase again, no doubts. |
