Don't expect the quiet gentility of doing the Sunday New York Times crossword with this game--it's certainly crossword-based, though a good bit louder and faster. (But it does carry the credentials of being one of GAMES magazine's best new word games.) From three to six players start the game by racing to assemble eight tiles with letters into a sensible grid. The first one to do it shouts, "Pick two!" and then all the players have to incorporate two more tiles into their crossword. The pick-two cycle continues as the puzzle grows and more and more letters get added. The player who has used the most tiles successfully when all 180 are gone wins. A sand timer and pad of paper are included to help with scoring. --Paul Hughes

This fantastic game has tiles, about the size of Rummykub tiles, each with a letter of the alphabet on it. Each player starts out with several tiles and begins a crossword puzzle using the tiles in their hand. The first player to use all of their tiles calls out "pick two!" and all players must take two more tiles from the pool.

The game continues this way until all of the tiles are gone from the pool and a player is able to play all of thier tiles. Then their crossword is checked by the other players and they must defend any questionable words.

Like most games, it comes in a box that is way too big for the game inside. I have moved mine to a large zip-lock bag that goes along with us on trips, to parties and all other suitible destinations.

The size of the tiles and layout of the game does not make this a good game to play in cars or on airplaines, but it will be perfect once you reach your final destination.
