These Pickit 2 programmers are hard to find cheap or affordable. I found these and couldn't believe the price on them! Excellent Customer Support too. The seller was easy to work with, and they arrived extremely quickly! I asked and it was there. The quality of the pickits is excellent too. They work perfectly, and are even brand name despite the cheap price!
A most excellent product. I would recommend to anyone.

This Pickit 2 works great! It programs the chips I need it to. And it works better than the pickit 3's do for the lower end chips. This chip will program almost all of the 12f, 16f, 18f, and some of the 24 chips! It's not actually made by Microchip, but it works the same as the ones that are, so I don't care.

this pickit 2 is not the official one released by microchip. the official one has a red "2" below the work pickit and also has a red button. this clone is made by a company called sure. when sure first made their clone it used all the same parts as the official pickit but omitted a couple memory chips that at the time were only used for an unimplemented feature(saving the uploaded program to the pickit so you can flash it to your device without being connected to the pc) that is now implemented, thereby disallowing this feature on older sure pickit 2 clones. the sure clone i received was a revision that did include the memory chips making it feature complete and compatible with the official pickit 2. i have used this on windows and on linux and it works fine so no issues with he hardware as it is.
however, nowhere in the product description does it specify this as a clone, and that is something that really should be mentioned, thats why i gave it 3 stars. its kind of an important thing to mention in a product description. also, if you purchase this product, take the supplied mini usb cord and just throw it away, don't even bother with it. i spent a few hours struggling with it wondering why one computer would see the device but not communicate to it, and the other computer wouldn't even see it at all. its was a shoddy usb cord. apparently others have issues with the supplied usb cord so just save yourself the headache and use your own, im sure if you are buying this product you have a usb to mini usb cord.
