Book Description

August 28, 2005 PIP Expanded Guides
"Photography for the people" is how the ads read for the NikonF5-the perfect blend of toughness, simple use, and the latest technology. Problem is, F5 has far more features than most owners know what to do with. Chris Weston's years of F5 mastery demystifies the camera's features, translating its technical jargon into terms most photographers already know. Detailed descriptions of functions and features are accompanied by a chart that describes and defines each part. The basic functions of focusing and exposure, including autoexposure, get a complete, photo-filled chapter. So do each of the F5's flashes and lenses, as well as all available accessories. Best of all: you-are-there depictions of outdoor weather challenges and indoor shooting sessions with unpredictable people.

5.0 out of 5 stars Turns a monster camera into a manageable tool, January 30, 2005
By

Manuals that come with cameras are OK, but it has been really nice to have clear photos of all the little buttons and step-by-step instructions on how to master this fine camera. Clear, concise, accurate - for me this book was money well spent!

5.0 out of 5 stars All Around great Advice, August 21, 2011

Ok,
So you don't have an F5. No problem. Let's face it some of the Pro/semi amateur Nikons are so daunting to a new photographer. (D300, D700 D3 s, x. and the F6). this book can be used to orient a photographer. Especially those brand new to Nikon. The complex Nikon command and control system can choke a horse. It's very logical but complex none the less. One fellow brought his D300 back to the camera shop on the third day to get his money back because he could not get it to auto focus (he didn't know about the M/A switch).

This book gives you a quick study jump start with some very good, well photographed instructions, comments and common errors that occur with Nikons. Instructions on using the functional buttons are simple and clear. And yes these same buttons are on the new digitals. The photos used in explaining these controls are beyond excellent. I love film and I love digital. i will always keep this book on the desk because it is such a pleasant, quick refresher right at my fingertips. Ok, so you own an F5 and don't have this? Go getcha one and enjoy it. Knowledge is power to the creative spirit and nice pictures help too .

Goods reference book. Many of the articles are copied from the owners manual.
Still worthwhile purchase.
