Turns a monster camera into a manageable tool,
By Bob Creasey (Denison, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The PIP Expanded Guide to the Nikon F5 (PIP Expanded Guide Series) (Paperback)
Manuals that come with cameras are OK, but it has been really nice to have clear photos of all the little buttons and step-by-step instructions on how to master this fine camera. Clear, concise, accurate - for me this book was money well spent!

Ok,
So you don't have an F5. No problem. Let's face it some of the Pro/semi amateur Nikons are so daunting to a new photographer. (D300, D700 D3 s, x. and the F6). this book can be used to orient a photographer. Especially those brand new to Nikon. The complex Nikon command and control system can choke a horse. It's very logical but complex none the less. One fellow brought his D300 back to the camera shop on the third day to get his money back because he could not get it to auto focus (he didn't know about the M/A switch). This book gives you a quick study jump start with some very good, well photographed instructions, comments and common errors that occur with Nikons. Instructions on using the functional buttons are simple and clear. And yes these same buttons are on the new digitals. The photos used in explaining these controls are beyond excellent. I love film and I love digital. i will always keep this book on the desk because it is such a pleasant, quick refresher right at my fingertips. Ok, so you own an F5 and don't have this? Go getcha one and enjoy it. Knowledge is power to the creative spirit and nice pictures help too .

Goods reference book. Many of the articles are copied from the owners manual.
Still worthwhile purchase.

Nice visual presentation on the Nikon F5. But 5 minutes alone with the camera will give you as much information without destroying innocent trees. Basically disappointing.
